Curious What Hosting Options There Are Beyond Namecheap?

Here Is My List of The 3 Best Hosting Alternatives to Consider in 2026

Namecheap is a very well-known budget hosting provider that originally started out as a pure domain registrar which later evolved into a trusted and super-affordable hosting provider, offering services such as shared hosting, domain registrations, email solutions, as well as an user-friendly website builder. They are great at what they do, but in reality, hosting isn’t a “one size fits all” type of service, and some users might have different needs and searching for something slightly different maybe as they create or expand their online presence.

In this review I have put together a list of 3 excellent providers you should have on your short list if you are considering moving away from Namecheap. They are Hosting.com, Name.com, and the UK-based provider, 123 Reg.

1. Hosting.com

A Solid & Affordable All-Rounder that Offer Users Both Linux and Windows Hosting Plans

1-thumb.png

Best for: Newbies as well as experienced developers and everyone in between, small to medium-sized businesses, or users looking for Windows-based hosting solutions.

https://hosting.com

Hosting.com is a name that everyone involved in the hosting world knows all too well. This provider first started operating back in 2003, but then it was under another name – A2, which was short for Ann Arbour, the town in which their story began. Since their humble beginnings they have grown into one of the major players in the hosting world, nowadays hosting over 3 million websites, and offering anything from shared plans and VPS to reseller packages, domain registrations, and dedicated servers. One of their standout features is that they include Windows-based plans as part of their offerings.

They are a solid alternative to Namecheap if you need Windows Shared hosting, Reseller plans, or VPS servers with guaranteed resources. And despite their low prices, they don't cut corners as their performance is strong, and their customer support team is a pleasure to deal with.

Why Would I Choose Hosting.com Over Namecheap?

- Cheaper: Although Namecheap gives you 30 days free to test out their services, their monthly rates of $5.88 for their cheapest plan is almost double what Hosting.com charges.

- Choice of Operating Systems: Namecheap only offers Linux-based plans, whereas Hosting.com gives users the choice between Linux or Windows.

- Freebies: All their plans come standard with a free SSL certificate, a free domain for the first year, as well as brute force, malware & DDoS protection.

- Performance Optimized Hardware: Don’t let their cheap prices fool you. Hosting.com uses blazing-fast NVMe SSD disks, LiteSpeed web servers, as well as AMD EPYC CPUs in all their servers, making your website load in no time!

Pros:

  • Linux and Windows hosting options
  • Wide range of products that include shared, VPS, dedicated servers, domains, and more
  • Excellent & responsive 24/7 customer support
  • Affordable
  • Good Performance

2-thumb.png

Cons:

  • Their AI website builder is an additional monthly fee and not included free of charge
  • Their renewal prices are more expensive than the introductory rates, but to be honest, most providers do this.

2. Name.com

The Popular Domain Expert That Also Provides Hosting

3-thumb.png

Best for: Absolute beginners, users who need domain registrations and hosting from the same provider, users looking for simple and reliable shared hosting at budget-friendly rates.

https://name.com

Colorado is mostly known for the breathtaking Rocky Mountains and world-class ski resorts, but is also the home of Name.com, one of the best domain registrars in my opinion. However, a lot of people don’t know that they also provide shared hosting services, as well as WordPress-optimized hosting, and email plans. For users just starting out and who don’t need all the extra features and frills that some high-spec cloud infrastructure providers offer, Name.com makes for an excellent alternative.

Both Namecheap and Name.com are great for newbies. Both cost more or less the same and offer the same support channels, but what sets them apart in my opinion is the fact that you get a free domain with Name.com and they also give their users plenty of mailboxes. Their cheapest plan for example comes with an incredible 100x POP/IMAP email accounts compared to the 30 POP/IMAP email accounts that Namecheap includes in their cheapest plan.

Why Do Name.com Make My List of Namecheap Competitors?

- Simple & Straightforward hosting: Their hosting plans are affordable and not complicated at all.

- They Include a Free Domain: When you sign up with Name.com and commit to an annual subscription, they will include a free domain registration. Namecheap, by comparison, does not include a free domain at all.

- Plenty of Email Accounts Included: Most providers that offer free POP/IMAP email accounts limit you to 2 or 5, but Name.com includes 100 POP/IMAP accounts in their cheapest plan.

4-thumb.png

- Excellent Support: Their agents are some of the friendliest I have encountered. They are well trained and quick to reply to issues.

Pros:

  • The industry favourite cPanel control is included for easy domain management for DNS, forwarding, connecting domains, and more
  • Pricing that’s kind to your pocket
  • Free domain registration, SSL certificate, and plenty of POP/IMAP email accounts
  • 30-day money-back guarantee

Cons:

  • Not the best option if you need to scale up later
  • If you use the Wix website builder they have on some plans, it means your domain stays with Name.com, but your hosting runs on Wix
  • Hosting performance is average, nothing to write home about.

3. 123 Reg

The UK’s Favourite Domain Registrar and Hosting Provider for Tight Budgets

5-thumb.png

Best for: Small UK-based businesses and individuals that needs affordable and basic hosting. Great for total newbies and people on a strict budget.

https://123-reg.co.uk

The English hosting provider, 123 Reg, takes third spot on my list. They have been around since the year 2000 and if you’re based in the UK, you are probably familiar with the name. This hugely popular provider is famous for their super-low prices and reliable support. 123 Reg originally started out just as a domain registrar, and over time, they have started offering website hosting, website builder tools, as well as providing email solutions.

Unlike Namecheap, 123 Reg doesn’t position themselves as a broad hosting provider, but rather focus on straightforward domain registration and basic hosting that is bundled with a website builder that works equally well for beginners and experienced users alike. For anyone coming from Namecheap who finds the range of options overwhelming, 123 Reg offers a more streamlined and straightforward option.

What Stands Out for Me Compared to Namecheap

- Price: 123 Reg is slightly cheaper than Namecheap.

- Website Builder: They include a simple drag‑and‑drop website builder that comes with a clean and easy to use interface. It allows one to create mobile-responsive, professional-looking websites quickly and without any coding. Not too many features, but it’s fully functional and all one needs.

- Free Domain:123 Reg gifts their users a free .com, .co.uk, or .uk domain for the first year.

- Excellent Customer Support: Unlike Namecheap that only offers support via live chat and tickets, 123 Reg has 24/7 support via support tickets, phone support on weekdays from 8am – 10pm, and live chat between 9am -7pm every day. Their agents are well trained and a pleasure to deal with.

Pros:

  • Entry-level plans start from only £2.49 per month
  • Simple domain management through a straightforward control panel
  • Free domain, SSL certificate, and email accounts included in all their plans
  • Good customer support

6-thumb.png

Cons:

  • The Template quality and variety you get with their builder falls short of what Namecheap offers
  • Not the best option for high-traffic websites

Frequently asked questions

1. Which of these alternatives has the best website builder included for free?

For me personally, Hosting.com takes the win. Their AI website builder is super easy to work with and creates stunning websites.

2. If I need email hosting with my domain, who should I go with?

Name.com is probably the best option here. Even their cheapest plan comes with 100 POP/IMAP email accounts which is most likely an overkill for most users.

3. Which of these alternatives offers the best overall value when it comes to computing resources such as VPS or cloud?

Hosting.com wins easily. Their managed VPS includes dedicated resources, full root access, and provides easily scalable computing power. Namecheap’s VPS is unmanaged, so you’re on your own, and Name.com’s VPS servers are decent but more expensive per core.

4. Do any of these competitors offer free website migrations?

Unfortunately, not. Hosting.com will charge you if they have to handle it, Name.com offers a free plugin for WordPress migrations but not for other CMSs, and 123 Reg provides just a basic transfer guide but no fully handled free migrations.

5. Which is the cheapest option in 2026 when it comes to renewal time?

Hosting.com without a doubt. You can get their single shared hosting plan for only $2.99 per month, and although they advertise it as 75% off, you can renew it for the same price.
