Trial period

WPEngine does not offer a free trial though they do offer 60-Day Money-back guaranteed.

They are so confident that everyone will love their products and services that they’re offering a 60 day money-back guarantee. If you’re unsatisfied for any reason, you can request a refund anytime within the first 60 days and they will refund your plan fees paid.

Billing cycle

While WP Engine only offers one type of service – its managed WordPress hosting – it also provides a number of tiered plans to choose from.

And they offer 2 billing cycle options, the Monthly and Annual plans.

3-thumb.png

Control panel

WPEngine hosting services don’t offer cPanel features. WP Engine is more advanced than regular shared hosting options. For this reason, some of the tasks are not done automatically, but the explanations are placed everywhere you go. So while more advanced, WP Engine still delivers in terms of ease of use. Plus, the control panel is looking really good.

The first thing you see after you’re done with the signup process is this:

4-thumb.png

To install WordPress, you need to find Sites on your dashboard. Once you click on that, you have 2 options: Accept transfer if a developer or agency has built the site for you or Add site if you’re building the site yourself.

5-thumb.png

A form to enter details such as your new site’s name and naming the environment appears. You can also select which environment you want to create. Production is the live version, while the Staging and Development environment can be used as sandboxes.

Limits

The limits vary on each hosting package, ranging from 1 to 30+ hosted websites, 25k to 400k monthly website visits per month, 10GB to 50+ GB SSD Storage, 50 to 500+ GB Bandwidth per month etc.

Security

WP Engine also offers a number of premium security features. The WordPress core is automatically updated to the latest version for you.

WP Engine thoroughly tests any major core updates before upgrading their customers. They have a proprietary intrusion detection and prevention system to block any DDoS attacks, brute force attacks, malware, JavaScript/SQL-injection attacks, and more.

8-thumb.png

They also partner with third-party security firms to conduct regular code reviews and security audits.

Your security is guaranteed, so if you get hacked WP Engine will fix it for free.

OS

They mainly focused on Wordpress platform and the operating system they are using is unknown or haven’t been mentioned yet on their system though their engineers add resiliency and speed to their platform to deliver the best performance for their customers and their businesses.

Their developers use both tried and true and up and coming programming languages.

Examples: PHP, Python, Ruby.

WP Engine has a dedicated support team of WordPress experts. They boast over 97% customer satisfaction with thousands of customer interactions per day.

Support is available 24/7 via live chat support for all customers. Phone support is available 24/7 with all plans except for the Startup plan. If an issue can’t be immediately resolved via chat or phone, the support staff will create an internal support ticket for you.

Lorienz GalarpeI have been an all-round web support for a digital marketing agency for 2 years, my role is to build website as well as managing our client's websites that's been hosted on WPEngine.com. There are 30+ websites that managed, all I can say is that the server is pretty fast though and 99% uptime all year round and haven't got a single website downtime yet. All the websites we managed from our account has a daily backup which really helps us secure our client's websites.Their 24/7 live support is awesome, 8 out 10 agents are very helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to website error fix.You can say that their pricing is a bit expensive but it's worth it.Gurpal SinghFor sure wpengine is the best choice for WordPress based websites. Basically getting used to it . The only limitation of wpengine that its only for WordPress , that's why i have to switch to another hosting server ,in case when Website development platform other than WordPress are used.Sarah SilvermanWPEngine took a little getting used to. I had always used a cpanel and ftp combination, this does not have a cpanel, so if you need that, don't use wpengine. But if you're good with ssh and ftp, you should be just fine. They're a bit on the expensive side, but they do offer a lot of cool tools like pushing and pulling from various environments with one click, they have backups with every update you attempt and they're really great with ensuring you can get back up if you get in your own way and break something. Their support is fantastic! Everyone in the industry should take a page from them. They're patient, realize people learn or understand in different explanatory ways, and they never make you feel like you're an idiot for doing something idiotic.Lizzy GiambalvoI am very satisfied with WP Engine as a host. The support is wonderful, they are always available and helpful. I have never ran into issues with the site going down or having issues.Although the price is a little high, I have always felt like it is worth it. It comes with a CDN and caching built in, so the sites are fast.Aieshah ShahIf you're a small business owner or starting up your business WP Engine is most likely a suitable option for you. We had specific requirements so we asked them to make us a customized packageI am amazed at their high-performance servers as well as a very supportive technical team who not only helped us set up my client's agency. My clients have an auction site of SaaS companies where people bid to buy company shares etc we needed a very high-speed server with big space approx 2TB I am happy with all the resources they provided 2 years now not even a single issue faced. Remarkable experience.Their price is on a higher side but they do not compromise on quality and speed.Syed Sohail BalkhiI had a chance to work on WPengine hosting many times and I really enjoyed working on WPengine server. It is super-fast, secure, and staging features. I would say its best hosting for WordPress. It has many features for WordPress developer, but the issue is the HIGH PRICE, that would be the only reason I would not recommend WPengine to any of my clients.Tom SmithWPEngine is a great host for WordPress. They are not the cheapest but it's worth it for what you get, great speeds, a lot of additional features and high reliability. One thing to be mindful of is if you ever decide to migrate away from WPEngine, you will need to disable the plugin they install and make some extra changes to your web files so if you are not an experienced WordPress user this would be pretty difficult if you are planning to move. Overall WPEngine is a great host.Soubhik ChakrabartiNow, there are a few things going in for WP Engine. But they fail miserably overall. Think about this, by paying over $400 a month, you can only get up to 400,000 visitors a month to your website. Just get a man vps with that money, and you can get to host many many websites together. The 50 GB local storage for over $400 is a joke.Erjon TafaWP Engine is awesome.I have a number of sites hosted with them.Super fast, easy backup/restore, staging area to play with changes, and fantastic support.Hosting is definitely an area where you tend to get what you pay for.If you have a site that you really care about or that you’re trying to actually make money with, then WP Engine is a no-brainer and absolutely worth it.Mark HI'm happy to get the chance to write a review for WPEngine because my experience has been so good with them. I host numerous WordPress websites and would never host them anywhere else. While they are more expensive than other hosts, in my opinion you get what you pay for. Their hosting dashboard is very clean and user friendly and packed with a ton of features that make hosting and working on wordpress websites a breeze. Their support is also the best I have seen for hosting. This is the number one thing for me as I constantly have little questions here and there and they are always available on live chat and whatnot. Overall WPEngine is a 10/10 imo and I wouldn't host anywhere else.Mary JonesI have dealt with WPEngine numerous times as they are by far the most popular managed WordPress hosting available. I would say a definite downside to the platform is feeling limited in terms of optimizing the speed of a WP site as they do have guidelines and constraints on the kinds of plugins you can install. Another downside is their pricing which starts at $40 for monthly plans- definitely not competitive. You are also limited to the number of WordPress instances you can have on a plan e.g. the $40 plan limits you to just 1 WordPress instance whereas if you got ordinary cPanel hosting elsewhere for the same price then you could have a lot more WordPress instances. Overall I personally steer clear of managed services like WPEngine due to their limitations but if you are looking for "hands-free" WordPress hosting then I would suggest WPEngine as their support will take care of malware issues, and keep your instance running smoothly. Support's quality can fluctuate - sometimes they do know what they're talking about and sometimes they can be longwided and in my experience not show any effort in fixing issues issues you are on higher plans.Mohamed HamdyI spent over 1.5 years and I see this company is very specialized on WP managed Hosting. Their support is awesome and the UX of the account management like website creation, website clone & backup,..etc is great. My only concern the cost is a little bit expensive but is affordable on terms of the quality of service.
