Hosting companies for portfolio websites creating

Editor:Sean Thompson

Portfolio websites do not have any special hosting requirements. It’s a very simple type of websites so the most basic Shared hosting package with as much as 100 Mb of disk space will work for it. Also, if your website does not require PHP and MySQL support, you can choose a package without them which is considerably cheaper. (read more)

The Best Hosting Companies for Portfolio Website Hosting

Here Are My Picks for the Top 3 Portfolio Website Hosting Providers That Stand Out Above The Rest in 2026

Everyone knows shared hosting and VPS hosting, and some have even heard the term “portfolio hosting”, but not everyone understands exactly what this is. Let me break this down for you. A portfolio website is basically an online showcase of your work, your skills, or your professional identity. It usually features a homepage, a couple of your projects, maybe an “about me” section, and hopefully a way for users to contact you. It is basic and definitely not an eCommerce website or membership platform of any kind, nor is it a resource-heavy application. Just a plain visual presentation designed to make a good impression.

Because it is so basic, you don’t need massive amounts of hosting space or special features, just a plain, vanilla-flavoured hosting plan will do just fine. With that being said, one should still look at things like good uptime, what security comes included, and if you get any extras such as free backups.

Choosing the right web hosting provider for your portfolio website is one of the most important decisions you can make if you are a creative professional, a designer or developer, or even a photographer. If your portfolio website loads slowly, goes down frequently, or gets hacked often, it leaves a bad impression which could mean that you are losing out on new business before potential clients even see your projects. In this review I have put together a list of the top 3 portfolio website hosting providers that I feel are worth your attention in 2026. They are Hostinger, Hosting.com, and UltaHost.

1. Hostinger

Unbeatable Balance Between Value & Cost

1-thumb.png

https://hostinger.com

Hostinger is a name anyone has surely seen pop up on search engines when looking for a hosting provider, and it's one of my personal favourites. This provider first opened its doors in 2004 and has accumulated a massive customer base of over 5 million users across 150 countries during that time. They offer services such as shared hosting, domain registration, VPS and dedicated servers, Node.js application support, as well as marketing tools. For portfolio websites in particular, their shared and WordPress hosting plans are perfect as they come with more than enough resources.

Their introductory prices are dirt cheap, their own custom-developed interface which they include with all their plans are intuitive and super-easy to master, and their support is top-notch, all qualities and features that make Hostinger a great option for portfolio websites in my opinion.

Hostinger’s Key Features for Portfolio Hosting:

- Cost: At the end of the day, it all comes down to cost. Hostinger’s entry-level plans go for as low as $2.99 per month making them one of the most affordable providers out there today.

2-thumb.png

- Control Panel: I have said it before in previous reviews, and I will say it again – I find Hostinger’s own customer control panel, the hPanel, to be extremely user-friendly and prefer it over the industry standard cPanel by far. This panel is intuitive and really easy to navigate even if you are a complete beginner. It allows you to manage all aspects of your hosting plan such as managing emails, SSL certificates, installing WordPress, and more, without the headaches some control panels bring.

- Free Domain and SSL: They throw in a free domain name for the first year, as well as a free SSL certificate by Let’s Encrypt.

- Free AI Website Builder: All their hosting plans come standard with one-click installations for WordPress, a CMS that enables one to create a professional website with ease and no technical knowledge. However, Hostinger has taken this a step further by also including their own AI website builder with all plans. By simply answering a few prompts about your business, this AI tool will create a fully responsive and great looking website in minutes.

- Performance Features: Besides their entry-level plan running on fast SSD drives (all other plans run on blazing-fast NVMe disks), they also include LiteSpeed Caching as well as a CDN (content delivery network) that ensures fast loading times for your users no matter where they are connecting from.

- Excellent Support: If you get stuck, and sooner or later all of us do, you can reach out to their friendly support agents 24/7 via live chat, support tickets, and email. They are quick to reply and knowledgeable.

- Email: Even on their most basic shared hosting plan, which is perfect for portfolio websites, they include 2x POP/IMAP email accounts.

Pros:

  • Affordable: Their plans are some of the best priced you will be able to find in 2026.
  • hPanel Control Panel: They include their very own hPanel control panel with all plans. This is extremely easy to use, even for newbies.
  • Free domain: They include a free domain name for the first year.
  • Free AI website builder: Their AI website builder is arguably the best there is today, in my opinion at least, and they include this free of charge in all plans.
  • SSL & Caching: They also include a complimentary SSL certificate, LiteSpeed Caching, as well as a CDN with all plans.

Cons:

  • High Renewal Rates: The initial prices on their plans are dirt cheap, but when it comes time to renew it, you will be charged a lot more.
  • No cPanel: If you are a fan of cPanel then this provider is probably not your cup of tea.
  • Phone Support: They don’t offer any phone support unfortunately.

2. Hosting.com

Great for Beginners and Fans of cPanel

3-thumb.png

https://hosting.com

Hosting.com is slightly older than Hostinger, having started offering their services in 2003 under the name A2 Hosting, which was short for the town their story began in - Ann Arbor, Michigan. Today they are one of the top hosting providers around, employing over 800 people and serving more than 700,000 users scattered across the world. Hosting.com has a solid reputation for being very reliable, affordable, and offering a good range of hosting services such as shared hosting, domain registration, managed servers, Node.js hosting, and dedicated WordPress plans, to name just a few.

Why do they make my list as a top portfolio site hosting option? Well, their shared hosting plans start from as low as $1.99 per month, runs on LiteSpeed web servers with LiteSpeed caching, AMD EPYC CPUs, and blazing-fast NVMe disk drives. You also get the industry standard cPanel control panel included, as well as a free domain for the first year, an SSL certificate, POP/IMAP email accounts at your domain name, malware protection, and daily backups.

Hosting.com’s Key Features for Portfolio Hosting:

- cPanel: They include the hugely popular and industry favourite cPanel control with all their plans. This user-friendly and intuitive panel allows users to easily manage all aspects of their hosting account, such as changing PHP versions, setting up emails, installing SSL certificates, and more. This is a feature many providers often charge extra for.

- Performance: As mentioned earlier, all their plans run on LiteSpeed web servers with LiteSpeed caching and super-fast NVMe disks, so you get excellent performing hosting plans. Great for portfolio websites as it will load in the blink of an eye.

- Free Migration: If you're moving over from another provider, Hosting.com will handle the whole process of moving over your files, images, and database completely free of charge.

- AI Integration: Hosting.com includes MCP Server with all their plans. This is basically a lightweight software program that enables users to connect AI models to external data sources, tools, as well as workflows.

- Good Security: For the price they charge it’s hard to imagine that your plan will have decent security included free of charge, but it does! They throw in a free SSL certificate, a network firewall, DDoS attack protection, and malware scanning with all their hosting plans.

Pros:

  • Super Affordable: Their prices start at only $1.99 per month for their most basic shared hosting plan, making them even more affordable than Hostinger.

4-thumb.png

  • cPanel: They include the full cPanel control panel in all their hosting plans.
  • Excellent Hardware: All plans run on LiteSpeed web servers with AMD EPYC CPUs and lightning-fast NVMe disk drives.
  • Beginner-friendly: Their plans are great for beginners, and their support agents are ready to assist if you get stuck.

Cons:

  • Renewal Fees: As with most hosting providers, their prices increase a lot when it comes time to renew your plan with them.
  • No Windows Options: If your portfolio website was built on a Windows platform, you are out of luck as they only have Linux-based plans

3. UltaHost

Scalable Portfolio Website Hosting with More Features

5-thumb.png

https://ultahost.com

UltaHost, an American-based web hosting provider, comes in third on my list. This provider was created by two brothers, Elin and Deen Douhouz, in 2018, making them the newest company in this review. They offer a wide range of services such as domain registrations, shared hosting, VPS servers, dedicated servers, dedicated WordPress hosting, Android Emulator hosting, N8N hosting, email solutions, and many more.

The reason they make my list as a top contender for portfolio website hosting is that they are one of the few providers that offer both Linux and Windows options, their prices are super-competitive, they include excellent security with all their plans, and their support is great too! Furthermore, they have over 20 data centers across the globe to ensure websites load as fast as possible.

UltaHost’s Key Features for Portfolio Hosting:

- Low Prices: Their entry-level shared hosting plan, the “Shared-Starter”, goes for only $3.44 at the time of writing, and with this they give you 30GB of blazing-fast NVMe disk space, which should be more than enough for a portfolio website, as well as free backups and unlimited bandwidth.

- Wide Range of Hosting Plans: UltaHost offers everything from standard shared hosting, all the way up to VPS and dedicated servers, which means your portfolio website can start small and easily scale as your needs get more.

- Good Security: All their plans come standard with advanced DDoS attack protection, a free SSL certificate by Let’s Encrypt, hardened PHP, a WAF (web application firewall), and malware protection.

6-thumb.png

- 20+ Data centers: They have more than 20 data centers around the world, including ones in the US, Canada, and Germany, Turkey, Dubai, UAE, and more, so you can choose a server as close to your users as possible.

- Free Website Migrations: If you are moving your portfolio website over to them from another hosting provider, they will manage the whole process for you free of charge.

Pros:

  • Wide Range of Hosting Options: They offer everything from shared hosting, domain registrations, VPS servers, dedicated servers, and more.
  • Budget-friendly: Their shared hosting plans start from only $3.44 per month
  • Multiple Data Centers: They have over 20 data centers scattered across the world.
  • Easy to Scale: As they offer so many types of hosting products, it is easy to scale as your needs grow.
  • Free Migrations: To move a website from one host to another is a daunting task for most, luckily UltaHost will manage this whole process for you at no cost.

Cons:

  • Renewal Fees: When it comes time to renew your plans with them, prices increase significantly, so keep that in mind before signing up.
  • No Phone Support: They don’t offer any phone support, so if you are one of those people that prefer to speak to someone over the phone when you get stuck, you might be left disappointed.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What type of hosting would work best for my portfolio website?

Well, it all depends on how big your website site is. For most portfolio websites a standard shared hosting should be more than enough as they usually don’t need too much space and don’t have too much traffic, but as your site grows you might need to upgrade to a VPS plan when you start to outgrow that shared hosting space.

2. Do I need a website builder for my portfolio, or would WordPress be fine?

It comes down to personal choice really as both options work. Website builders like Hostinger's AI builder are great as it will create your site by answering just a few questions, while WordPress might require a bit more effort.

3. What is a reasonable price to pay for hosting for a portfolio website

This again comes down to what you need in terms of disk space and features, but in my opinion, you will look at paying roughly $2-5 per month for the first year. It is worth mentioning that you should also keep the renewal rates in mind before you commit to a provider.

4. Can I host more than 1 portfolio website on a hosting plan?

Yes, you can, but you will need to check if the provider allows for more than one domain to be hosted on the plan. Luckily, most providers do.

5. What security features should I look for in portfolio hosting?

Personally, I feel that a hosting plan should at the very least offer a free SSL certificate and DDoS protection. If they throw in a firewall, malware protection, and maybe free backups, you should be more than covered.
