Hosting providers with shared hosting
Virtual shared hosting is the placement of accounts (sites) of multiple clients on one server. Server resources (processor power, disk space, RAM, etc.) are divided between all the sites located on the server. Today virtual shared hosting is used by about 80% of webmasters. (read more)
Disadvantages of virtual shared hosting
A significant disadvantage of this service happens when a neighboring site located on the same server overloads the server, your site may stop working for a while. Also, if your website is the one creating a high load on the system (a large number of visitors or a poorly optimized engine), then the provider will most likely disable your site and offer you a more expensive plan.
Still, this potential problem doesn't prevent virtual shared hosting to be the most popular worldwide, primarily due to the relative low price. After all, if the server is reserved exclusively for your site, then you have to pay hundreds of dollars per month. Most people choose a compromise - where the provider allocates a part of the server (VPS\VDS) to your website.
Limitations of virtual hosting
It's worth noting the primary limitations when choosing virtual hosting:
- number of sites on the same account
- disk space for files
- number of databases
We gave the highest score to those providers with a sufficiently high load threshold, (allowing more stable site operation) and a reasonable price plan offering sufficient capabilities.
