With dedicated servers you are moving beyond shared resources and virtual partitions into the world of raw, unadulterated hardware, and the past week I was lucky enough to evaluate OVHcloud's 2026 dedicated server lineup. If you are not familiar with them, they are definitely not your typical host – they're a global infrastructure heavyweight, and their bare-metal offerings reflect that pedigree. But are what they offer the right fit for you and your needs, or are they a total overkill for the average business owner? In this review, I will do my best to give you a clear, and very honest, look at what you're really getting when you sign up with them.
If you're considering OVHcloud, you are likely in one of two camps. Either your project has completely outgrown even the most powerful VPS server plans, demanding every little bit of CPU and RAM you can throw at it, or you're building something from the ground up that requires the stable, secure, and predictability that only a physical, dedicated server can provide. OVHcloud is a firm favourite amongst developers, IT professionals, and businesses alike, that need industrial-scale tools and power. Let's start this review and see if the tools inside are worth the price you pay.
OVHcloud Dedicated Server Plans Overview
A Good Look into Range of Bare-Metal Options
If you have been shopping around for a dedicated server, you will know that most providers only offer about 4 choices, this, however, is not the case with OVHcloud. Their dedicated server plans are split into four categories, namely “Advance” (11 options), “Game” (2 options), “Scale” (21 options), and lastly “High Grade” (11 options). Each plan also includes a configurator – a powerful filter that lets you drill down by CPU cores, RAM, storage type, and bandwidth, allowing you to create the exact server you would like.
The “Advance” range is their general-purpose servers which goes from $90 per month for the “Advance 1 2024” plan, up to $260 per month on the “Advance-STOR” plan and is suitable for anything from light tasks up to intensive computing. It makes use of AMD EPYC processors and gives you a choice between blazing-fast NVMe SSD storage for performance or massive SAS hard drives in the Advance-STOR variants for sheer capacity, making it a versatile fit for most business applications, development environments, and high-traffic websites.
For specialized needs, OVHcloud also offers more targeted ranges. Their “Game” series is built for one thing, and that is raw, low-latency speed. It makes use of high-frequency consumer-grade processors, such as the Intel Core i7/i9 series, which can boost up to 5.6 GHz, paired with blazing-fast NVMe disk drives. This makes it perfect not just for game servers, but also for voice servers, real-time applications, or any project where millisecond response times are needed. There are only 2 options, one going for $170 per month, and the other for $220 per month.
On the other end of the spectrum, their “Scale” series is designed more for heavy parallel processing and virtualization and is also significantly more expensive as they range from $420 per month for the entry-level “Scale” option, up to $1700 for the top-tier option. It utilizes slightly older, but high-core-count AMD EPYC Milan CPUs (like 24 to 48 cores) and comes with lightning-fast NVMe drives for speed with large SATA HDDs for bulk storage, offering maximum threads for your budget for tasks like running multiple virtual machines, big data analysis, or as a private cloud host.
Finally, their “High Grade” range offers OVHcloud's top-tier infrastructure. These servers come standard with either Intel Xeon or AMD EPYC 9004 CPUs with massive core counts, as well as a generous number of DDR4/5 ECC RAM and blazing-fast NVMe storage drives. These servers are suited for enterprise-grade applications, ultra-demanding databases, large-scale SaaS platforms, and mission-critical infrastructure where uncompromising performance and redundancy are required. It is also soul-crushingly expensive, ranging from $1050 per month, up to and eye-watering $3320 per month, putting it well out of range of any “average Joe”.

The DIY Experience
Signing up with OVHcloud isn’t quite the same as signing up with a “consumer” hosting provider, their process is professional, but it does require your full attention. If you want to sign up, simply navigate to their website, www.ovhcloud.com, and hover over the “Bare Metal & VPS” tab in the top main menu, right beneath their logo. Then click on “Dedicated Servers” where you will see all 4 categories and plans under each displayed. After making your choice click on “Configure” next to the plan you are interested in. The next page will ask you to choose your data center location, and any upgrade you would like, such as more RAM, storage, or bandwidth. When you click on “Continue Order” on the right-hand side of the page, they will show you a short summary of what you are about to order, as well as give you the option to choose your preferred billing cycle (options are either monthly, annually, or for 2 years at a time). Lastly, you will be asked to provide your personal details and payment method to complete the signup process.
Their servers are usually provisioned and delivered within a few hours, which is impressively fast for dedicated hardware, but do note that their entire interface is built for technical users, so don't expect a lot of hand-holding.
Key Features:
This is where it becomes clear that OVHcloud's dedicated servers aren’t designed for average users. All their plans come standard with the following:
- Premium Hardware: Their plans come with high-performance CPUs, DDR5 ECC RAM, Blazing-fast NVMe disk drives, and massive SAS storage.
- High-Performance Network: The standard inclusion of high private bandwidth (25 Gbps) for a private, secure internal network is a massive pro for multi-server setups.
- Full Root & Admin Access: You have complete, unfettered control over the entire machine. Install any OS, any software, configure any firewall rule.
- DDoS Attack Protection: All servers come standard with the OVHcloud's built-in DDoS attack protection, which is battle-tested and very effective.
- Your Own IP Address: Each plan comes with a dedicated IPv4 address and you will also have the option to purchase more.
- Install Your Own OS: You can install from a wide library of templates (multiple Linux distros, Windows Server) or use your own ISO.
What's NOT Included:
- Server Management: This is probably the biggest one in my opinion. OVHcloud is an unmanaged host. They guarantee the hardware and network are functional, but operating system updates, security patching, any software installations, firewall configuration, and troubleshooting your applications are 100% your responsibility.
- Hands-On Support: This sort of links up with the previous point. Their support will help you with any hardware failures (they will most likely know about it even before you), network issues, and billing queries, but they will not help you debug configuration or recover files and databases.
- Control Panel: They don’t include any control panels, such as cPanel or Plesk, with their dedicated server plans. But, as you get full root access, you can install one yourself, just keep in mind it's an extra cost and setup step.
- Backups: While you can order additional storage or use OVHcloud's backup solutions, automated backups are not included by default.
Support & Security
A Professional Expectation
Support: As briefly mentioned before, their support is ultra-professional but scope-limited. You will mostly interact with their well-trained agents via support tickets in their admin panel. Phone support exists but is not their main channel. In my experience, responses to hardware-related issues are generally fast. However, if your issue is software-related, they will most likely just point you to their extensive documentation and community forums, which is great for seasoned system administrators but can be somewhat tricky for beginners.
Security: plans come standard with advanced DDoS protection, as well as physical security in their data centers, and isolated hardware. However, the security of the server itself falls on you and you are responsible for it. This is a huge ongoing task that should not be underestimated.
My Verdict
Is OVHcloud’s Dedicated Servers Right for You in 2026?
OVHcloud offers exactly what they promise - powerful, reliable, and scalable bare-metal infrastructure servers. There's no fluff, no hidden "managed" markups, just raw hardware and a robust network. But that comes with a clear set of responsibilities. Are they right for you? I would say:
Yes, if:
You have a rather big budget and you are a developer, a tech startup with in-house ops talent, a growing business with a dedicated IT person, or anyone who needs predictable, high-performance hardware and has the skills to manage it.
Maybe not so much, if:
You are a small business owner, a blogger, or someone simply looking to host a website without deep technical knowledge. If the thought of being the server administrator makes you nervous, you probably need a managed dedicated server from a provider like Liquid Web, Rackspace, or even OVHcloud's own managed options (which are separate products).
My Final Take:
OVHcloud's dedicated servers are a phenomenal resource for the right user. Their 2026 Advance series offer cutting-edge performance that can handle almost anything you throw at it. Just go in with your eyes wide open. Keep in mind that you will be the administrator, and for those ready for that responsibility, it's an incredibly powerful platform. For everyone else, the learning curve might be steeper than the performance gains are worth and keep in in mind that their prices are steep as it is, so to employ someone to handle all updates and security will add to the monthly costs.
