First impression

Established in 1996 during Israel's digital infancy, SPD has maintained its independence as one of Israel's longest-running hosting providers. They are based in Herzliya, Israel, and offer a comprehensive suite of web hosting services such as shared hosting, VPS solutions, dedicated servers, and colocation hosting. Their infrastructure combines enterprise-grade hardware with localized support, catering mainly to businesses requiring Hebrew-language technical assistance.

Trial Period

SPD doesn’t let you test-drive their hosting for free, so you can be sure they are the right fit before subscribing as there are no free trial periods available. Their shared hosting plans do however come with a 30-day money-back guarantee, giving you a month to evaluate performance risk-free (domains and add-ons excluded, since those are instant-use services). If you’re eyeing their VPS or dedicated servers, that guarantee doesn’t apply, so you’ll want to vet those carefully.

Billing Cycle

Their shared hosting plans offer six commitment options. Users can pay monthly, quarterly, twice yearly, yearly, every two years, or even every three years for those seeking maximum savings. VPS users get a slightly streamlined (but still generous) selection: annual, biennial, or triennial payments, skipping the shorter increments since virtual servers typically demand more stable deployments.

They currently accept payments via all major credit cards, bank transfers, and cheques.

Control Panel

SPD gives their shared hosting users a straightforward choice between cPanel and DirectAdmin—two proven interfaces that cover everything from email setup to one-click app installations. Both are super easy to use. cPanel is the industry favorite and comes packed with every tool imaginable for managing websites, emails, and databases through its user-friendly interface. DirectAdmin is its leaner cousin, with fewer frills, but lightning-fast and dead simple for core tasks like creating email accounts or installing SSL certs. Both get the job done with ease. Their VPS plans on the other hand also include Plesk (if you're running Windows servers).

Limits

Their shared hosting plans are available in both Linux and Windows, with three options on each to choose from. Let's start with their Linux-based plans, the Web Starter, Web One, and Web Unlimited. The Web Starter is their entry-level Linux plan, and it comes with 2GB SSD disc space, 1 MySQL database, and you are limited to hosting a single website. POP/IMAP email accounts are not included in this plan. Next up is the Web One plan, which features unlimited SSD disc space, POP/IMAP email accounts, and MySQL databases, but as with the previous plan, you are limited to hosting one domain. Lastly, there's the Web Unlimited, which, as the name suggests comes with unlimited SSD storage, POP/IMAP email accounts, MySQL databases, as well as no limits on the amount of websites/domains you would like to host.

Their Windows-based plans - the WEB3, WEB5, and WEB10, however, come with a bit more restrictions. The WEB3 has 3GB SSD disc space and is limited to a single domain and a single database. The WEB5 comes with 5GB SSD storage, 3 databases, and a 3 domain limit, while the WEB10 boasts 10GB SSD disc space, 10 databases, and a limit of 10 websites. All these plans come with unlimited POP/IMAP email accounts, and users can choose between MySQL or MS-SQL for their databases.

Website Builder

They don't bundle any proprietary drag-and-drop website builders with their hosting plans. Instead, users can take advantage of the one-click installs for WordPress, Joomla, and other CMS platforms via Softaculous, which will assist one with creating a professional-looking website without any coding knowledge. Simply pick a template (thousands exist), use the CMS’s visual editor to swap text and images like you’re editing a document, and add functionality through plugins (contact forms, galleries, etc.), all without touching code. It’s not as instant as Wix-style builders, but you gain full control without vendor lock-in.

Security

SPD implements a no-nonsense security framework across their hosting infrastructure, starting with free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates to encrypt data in transit—a basic but non-negotiable feature these days. They layer on a Web Application Firewall (WAF) to filter malicious traffic, complemented by antivirus and endpoint detection (EDR) to catch malware before it spreads. Automated backups preserve up to seven days of restore points, with Snap Shot restore, while network-level DDoS mitigation keeps sites online during flooding attacks. Solid security all around.

OS

All their shared hosting plans run on CentOS, a go-to Linux distribution for stability and security. But if you upgrade to a VPS, they offer slightly more choices. On Linux-based servers, CentOS comes standard at no extra cost, but for Windows-based servers, you have the choice between Windows Server 2016 or Windows Server 2019, both these come at an additional cost for the licenses.

Support

If you run into trouble and need to get hold of their support there are two ways of contacting them. Via a submit form on their website, or by logging a support ticket. I have tried both and the ticketing system is definitely the best option. Although they cater to mostly Hebrew-speaking clients, one can submit the ticket in English and get a very detailed solution back from friendly and helpful agents within an hour. The contact form takes a bit longer - a day in my case. Their support is an absolute pleasure to deal with!

Conclusion

Pros Cons
  • SSD Storage;
  • Great Security;
  • Excellent Support.
  • No Free Trial;
  • No Website Builder;
  • Limited Choice of Operating Systems on VPS.

In my opinion, SPD is a great choice if you are based in Israel and looking for a new provider. Their hosting plans are reliable, come with excellent security and support in place, and run on performance-optimized hardware with super-fast SSD drives.  Definitely worth checking out!
