Sean ClaytonFor a first time online seller, Shopify is a great option. Prebuilt templates, simply and easy to navigate user interface and easy access to customer and traffic statistics. That said if you are willing to put a little research and time into it you can find many other providers that give you a lot more, for a lot less. After a little while those prebuilt templates feel extremely restrictive, and you may find yourself having to pay a developer to make what should be simple changes.I found their support good, they were always quick and knowledgeable. I had a great experience with their reliability, with not one noticeable outage over the year I used Shopify.Again for a first timer looking for a basic e-store, Shopify could be for you. If you're happy to put a little effort into it you can find much better.Natalie Alice RoystonConsI'm starting with the negatives first, when you're earning Rands, pricing is not really as great and competitive as WIX, but I can understand this because it's an American Company, so the conversion rate for us is not favorable. The 'idea' of a trial period sounds like a great marketing ploy, but it's too short!, if you are not ready to set-up your online shop, those 2 free weeks are gone in what seems like 24hrs.I don't like that you have to signup with your credit card information, as it's not really affordable. Setting up the actual eCommerce side is not easy, you are going to need some help, which is going to cost you extra.I think the only Pro side is the option to pay monthly, there should be a bigger discount for a year's subs. The dashboard is easy to navigate and manage once you're set-up.Eliza MunteanuAs Shopify is one of the first platforms I have tested for running my online shop, I can say that it's a normal, quite regular hosting provider and I wouldn't call it exceptional. Compared with its peers, Shopify provides the fastest customer support. And because the platform is so intuitive, the managed hosting interface is one of the quickest to make small DNS or CNAME changes. One downfall would be their payment gateway, as they allow only 6 credit cards but they compensate with low transaction fees.Dan BechtoldOne of the best in the business for ecommerce websites. If you want ecommerce this is the easy place to be as they offer everything you would every need. Their interface is easy to use to import items that you wish to sell, speed and reliability is top notch in hosting business. They have become the standard for ecommerce websites and with so I can recommend them for such - small or large.Tom SmithIf you are planning on starting an eCommerce store than shopify is amazing! It is very easy to use, their support is great, their sites are fast and flexibility. The only downside to shopify is that you need to pay for additional add-ons, usually on a monthly basis but if you are making sales than you will not even notice this. I highly recommend Shopify for both experienced and beginners when it comes to an eCommerce platform.Mark HI have used shopify numerous times and overall I would say that I am quite happy with it. It's a great solution for e-commerce and has many things I like about it. First, if you're a beginner web designer it provides an easy and out of the box way to build an ecommerce website. The builder is very intuitive and quick to set up. They also offer live chat and phone support which is great. I have had to hit up support numerous times and every time they have been useful. The drawbacks of shopify is it's not as easy to customize as something like wordpress and to get additional features you have to spend more. They have apps that all usually cost money whereas in wordpress you can usually find something for free. This is just a personal preference thing so overall I definitely recommend shopify and will continue to use it in the future for select projects.Aaron FernandesI am a Shopify Partner/Expert as well and have used Shopify for many e-commerce stores I have built. I would say that Shopify is one of the easiest platforms to understand for a newbie, their pricing structure good and overall it makes setting up an e-commerce store a breeze. However if you're looking to create a store with a complex design, a lot of functionality or some other complexities then you are going to need what are called Shopify Apps. Many pagebuilders as well which are required to get the desired layouts in Shopify are Shopify Apps, and do come at a price - some hefty- and so the added cost for Apps is definitely a drawback. However if you are looking to get a store up and running quickly you can just install a theme, and get going without having to worry about things going down, or certain peculiarities with Settings such as if you used WooCommerce. Overall I would recommend Shopify as an e-commerce host however be aware that if you are trying to design something nice or are looking for certain peculiarities with your design you are going to need Apps which come at a price. Support is also available and in my experience quite good; but the fact that they do not automatically backup your store which I think they should definitely be doing is a drawback.Indra WidijantaProsIf youre looking for a strong and well built all around site, Shopify is the answer. They offer a fully hosted server service for your desired domain so you don't have to think about hosting/domain extension from it's module. My experience back then was building online retailer that extends from a pre set up marketplace (tokopedia.com). Linking the shopify and the site could not have been more easier with their support of various third party platform. They also offer various design which I subjectively think it is very well designed and very intuitive.ConsThe only cons for shopify is the pricing that for some people I think is not really affordable. They don't offer a free plan and only offer free trials that will ask for your credit card information.Marin KatićShopify is a really well done solution with decent pricing. It is really easy to setup the online store, with a bit of reading anyone can do it. The advantage over smaller e-commerce hosting providers is the peace of mind and security that Shopify offers. And maturity. Even the basic, cheapest plan is adequate for the start. In the past there were hiccups with the UI but that all got resolved in the meantime. Even the cheapest plan has 24/7 support which is kind of a rarity.Sudip SenguptaBefore we moved our ecommerce store to Shopify, we thought managing our online store would be a cake-walk. But we were let down! Till the time we migrated to Shopify, we were blown away with the list of features Shopify can provide us to manage our store, only to discover that most of the required features would cost extra. Though Shopify does really provide a list of features that you would find greatly beneficial, keep in mind the cost you would have to shell out. Almost every critical app required would be charged extra. For a small store, it isn't really a great thing. However, if you have the budget, Shopify is a great platform for your ecommerce store.Viktor D.Shopify. There are so many good and bad things about it.Let me save you the stress. If you plan to have a big store that sells globally, have multiple languages and want to offer country-specific payment methods then this is not the platform for you. I know that there are a lot of apps that offer multilanguage functionality but that will only bring you more troubles and solutions cause you have to deal with lot of compatibility problems with other apps and your theme which will be a nightmare to upgrade. This platform is for merchants that plan to target specific countries and can use the Shopify payment processor. If you don't want to use the Shopify processor ( or can't ) you will be paying 2% per transaction on top of your custom chosen payment processor. Platform speed and uptime is amazing. Even in busy periods ( high traffic ).Support is super friendly and will try to find a solution for your problem or point you where you can get it ( for example your theme development company support )Jeremy SmithShopify! Shopify is awesome. It allows just about anyone to setup an eCommerce website with little experience and just determination. The only downside to Shopify is the cost. However, the trade off is that you will have a fully functioning and full featured e commerce store ready to go. It is super easy to use, tracking inventory is easy, there are different free themes to choose from, multiple payment methods for your customers to use to checkout, easy SSL integration and more. There are different plugins that you can add (for a fee) to increase the robustness of your store. You can integrate email marketing plugins to send emails to abandoned carts, coupon codes and more. There is a drop shipping module, a module to integrate social media ads for Facebook, Instagram and more. It is fantastic and we have used it extensively with WordPress. You can get a free trial for 2 weeks to see if it will work for you. After that, it is $29 /month / $79/month and $299/month with a sliding scale for percentage fees per transaction. If you do enough volume, the middle plan will be worth it for you. Once you have that volume, things are looking good for your store! Highly Recommend.
