First impression

Keliweb is an Italian web hosting services provider based in the town of Rende, in the Calabria region of southern Italy. They were founded in 2009, and offer services such as domain registrations, shared hosting, email solutions, VPS servers, and dedicated server hosting. This provider's main target market is the local Italian community and they currently have a very healthy and ever-growing customer base of over 25,000 customers. Their data center guarantees a 99.99% uptime and is rated Tier-4, the highest standard in terms of reliability and security.

Trial Period

They offer a 30-day free trial on their 'KeliUser' and 'KeliCMS' plans, which allows potential customers can try them out and make sure they are the right fit before signing up. Additionally, all their Linux-based shared hosting plans come with a standard 15-day money-back guarantee. If you decide to cancel within this period, simply request a refund by submitting a support ticket directly from the customer dashboard.

Billing Cycle

Customers who sign up for Keliweb's shared hosting plans will have the choice of paying either yearly, biennially, or triennially, while dedicated servers and VPS plans offer much more options. Users can choose between monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, biennial, or triennial payment cycles.

They currently accept payments via Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, PayPal, bank transfers, and Postepay, a popular reloadable prepaid card service in Italy.

Control Panel

All their shared hosting plans come standard with the cPanel control panel, apart from the KeliUser plan, which features the DirectAdmin control panel. cPanel is the go-to option for most service providers as it is extremely reliable and easy to use. DirectAdmin on the other hand is known for being fast, lightweight, and also slightly more affordable than cPanel, which makes sense that they bundled this control panel with their entry-level plan. Keliweb's VPS plans come either with cPanel for Linux-based plans, or Plesk for Windows-based servers.

Limits

Keliweb's shared hosting plans are available in four options. The 'KeliUser' comes with 1 vCore CPU, 2GB RAM, 10GB blazing-fast SSD disc space, 10 POP/IMAP email accounts, and 1 MySQL database, which are excellent specs for an affordable, entry-level plan. Next up is the 'KeliPro' plan which comes with 2 vCore CPUs, 3GB RAM, 30GB SSD storage space, 50 POP/IMAP email accounts, and 5 MySQL databases, great for medium-sized websites and even small e-commerce sites. The 'KeliCMS' plan packs a bit more punch with 3 vCore CPUs, 4GB RAM, 75GB SSD disc space, and unlimited POP/IMAP email accounts and MySQL databases. Lastly, they have the 'KeliTop' plan that boasts 3 vCore CPUs, 6GB RAM, 200GB SSD storage space, and unlimited POP/IMAP email accounts and MySQL databases, perfect for large websites.

On the VPS side, they offer multiple options, that range from 1 vCore, 1GBRAM, and 20GB SSD disc space on the 'First' plan, up to 8 vCore CPUs, 16GB RAM, and 300GB SSD storage space on the 'Full' plan. Users also have the option of configuring their own server by choosing the amount of CPUs, RAM, and SSD storage.

Website Builder

This leading Italian provider includes the SitePad (formerly known as SiteBuilder) website builder in all its shared hosting plans. This builder features a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface and a variety of pre-designed templates tailored for different niches, allowing users to quickly edit them and establish an online presence. However, in my opinion, this builder is mainly for beginners, as it lacks advanced customization and SEO tools. Fortunately, all plans (except for KeliUser) also come standard with Softaculous, enabling one-click installations of popular CMSs like WordPress or Joomla, which offer users far more flexibility and freedom.

Security

When it comes to security they cover all the bases! All their plans come standard with Imunify360, a powerful and advanced security solution that protects websites from malware, brute-force attacks, DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service), SQL injections, XSS, and zero-day exploits. It combines AI-driven scanning, a Web Application Firewall (WAF), and real-time monitoring to block threats before they cause havoc, as well as a complimentary SSL certificate by Let's Encrypt. Their VPS plans also include port filtering, Synflood protection, a security mechanism that defends servers against SYN flood attacks, a type of DDoS attack where hackers overwhelm a system with fake TCP connection requests. Excellent security all round!

OS

Keliweb includes the AlmaLinux 8 operating system in all its shared hosting plans. This free, open-source distribution was originally created to fill the void left when CentOS shifted its focus to CentOS Stream. It serves as a drop-in replacement for RHEL 8, ensuring seamless migration for users and applications. For dedicated servers and VPS plans, users can choose between Gentoo, Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu, CentOS, Arch Linux, and Red Hat for Linux-based servers, or Windows Server 2008 SP1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, and Windows Server 2019 for Windows-based plans.

Support

If you run into issues (and everyone does sooner or later), you can contact their very helpful and friendly support agents 24/7 via support tickets, email, or by phone (there is a call-back option too). Replies are swift, in my case emails were always answered within an hour. They also have a comprehensive knowledge base on their website if you want to troubleshoot the problems yourself.

Conclusion

Pros Cons
  • Budget Friendly;
  • Complimentary SSL Certificates;
  • Free Domains;
  • Excellent security;
  • Great Support.
  • No Free Trial Period;
  • No Monthly Payment options on Shared Hosting.

If you are based in Italy and looking for a new hosting provider, Keliweb should definitely be on your shortlist! They offer a range of options that cater to newbies, small and medium-sized businesses, and even large corporations. Their pricing is competitive, their security excellent and their support is second to none. A great option in my opinion!
