First impression

Vodien is a Singapore-based veteran of shared & VPS hosting, that offers a broad range of options aimed mainly at the Asia-Pacific market. They are one of the leading web hosting providers in that region and claims to be serving more than 35,000 companies and 210,000 users worldwide. Their product list is comprehensive, they offer anything from Shared Hosting, VPS Hosting, Dedicated Server Hosting, and Colocation Server Hosting to Domain Registrations (they are ICANN accredited), and even provide Microsoft 365 licenses, handling everything from initialization, support and license management.

They have recently also added Online Marketing to their portfolio, with options such as SEO, Business Directory, and Traffic Booster to name a few.

There are some downsides, however. Although you get unlimited data transfer on all plans and more allocated resources than most, Vodien's packages don't come cheap and to say their prices are a bit steep is an understatement. It is one of the most expensive hosting providers, even twice as costly as most of their competitors on some options. Even their domain registration is insanely expensive, for example, a new .com registration comes in at an eye-watering $27 per year compared to the industry average of between $10 - $15 per year. Server scalability is also limited and their support is average.

Luckily all is not doom and gloom. One area where they don't cut any corners is their hardware infrastructure. Their servers, based in London, New York, Singapore, and Pert, are all powered by Dell PowerEdge2 with RAID SSD storage, Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 processors, and networked with Cisco routers that make them super fast and reliable and come with a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Also worth mentioning is that their dedicated WordPress hosting comes packed with 80+ Premium themes and plugins to help you easily create your preferred site with advanced theme options.

Trial period

Vodien offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on all their web hosting packages. One should note that this does not apply to their Dedicated, Colocation, and Virtual Servers.

Billing cycle

They make payments easy and clients can choose to pay via Cash Payments, Cheque Payments, Credit Card Payments, Internet Banking Transfers, and PayPal, they are however not as flexible when it comes to the payment terms. All products must be paid annually and in advance.

Control panel

CPanel seems to be their preferred control panel as that is the only option for shared hosting. If you are signing up for a dedicated server you will also have the option of using CentOS7.

Limits

For web hosting Vodien has 5 options on offer. Besides a slight increase in allocated space, email addresses, and MySQL databases, there is not much else that sets them apart. All come with unlimited traffic, unlimited subdomains, and 24/7 support.

They have 4 options for server hosting namely, Self Managed, Managed, Managed Mini Booster, and Managed Mega Booster. All come with 50GB disc space and 1TB traffic per month with the main difference being the allocated RAM and Core Processors. Their Self Managed & Managed option both come bundled with 2GB RAM and 2 Core Processors, The Manage Mini Booster with 10GB RAM and 6 Core Processors, and the Managed Mega Booster with 22GB and 12 Core Processors.

There is unfortunately no free SSL or free domains included in any of their plans.

Security

They offer website security via WebGuard. In a nutshell, it is a web firewall that will protect you against SQL injections & malware. It is not automatically included in their hosting packages and will cost extra. There is also no free SSL included as mentioned before.  

OS

Vodien only makes use of the Linux OS, which is considered to be a highly secure system, and bugs and vulnerabilities can be fixed easily due to its open-source platform.

Support

They offer free technical support via email, phone, or live chat 24/7, with a 6-hour resolution time guaranteed for basic issues. Their live chat will connect you to a real person if you are after technical support, but unfortunately, you will talk to a bot for sales support.
