First impression

ExonHost, a web hosting firm based in Bangladesh, was founded by its proprietor Saleh Ahmed in 2009 when he entered web development and web hosting during his time at the Shahjalal University of Science & Technology. From the very start, his aim was to provide enterprise-level hosting services at reasonable prices. The company was initially known as Obosor.com and had a name change or two before it was ultimately named ExonHost in 2015.

Within their relatively brief history, they have grown from humble beginnings to a giant customer base of over 20,000 clients. They currently offer Shared Hosting, VPS Hosting, Dedicated Server Hosting, and domain name registrations to clients worldwide.

Trial Period

Not many providers today offer a free trial to clients to experiment with their service, and ExonHost is no different. They do not offer a trial period, but they do offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. This indicates that you can experiment with their service risk-free. If they do not impress you, simply cancel your plan for a full refund.

Billing Cycle

Their Shared Hosting packages, which I think are quite reasonably priced and well-suited, are payable on a monthly or annual basis. Payment annually upfront could earn you a 15% discount. VPS packages have monthly payment terms with no discount available.

They now have Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Maestro, PayPal, Stripe, American Express, and bKash as valid payment methods.

Control Panel

ExonHost employs cPanel on all their shared hosting plans. cPanel is a friendly but robust control panel that simplifies the management of all aspects of your web hosting account. In addition, all their VPS plans come with cPanel/WHM pre-installed and pre-configured by default. However, with complete root access, you even have the freedom to install your own control panel of choice.

Limits

Their LiteSpeed web servers with LSCache and blazing-fast NVMe SSD drives (4x quicker than traditional SSD drives), and Quic-HTTP/3 for web acceleration and latency optimization through better parallelization, fueled Shared Hosting plans are high-performance and extremely cost-effective. The plans are available in 3 configurations, i.e., Starter, Standard, and Advanced.

Starter includes 5GB NVMe SSD Storage, 250GB bandwidth, and up to 2 websites. Standard includes 10GB NVMe SSD Storage, 500GB bandwidth, and up to 5 websites, and Advanced includes 20GB NVMe SSD Storage, 1000GB bandwidth, and up to 10 websites. They both include unlimited free SSL certificates with Let’s Encrypt, unlimited POP/IMAP mailboxes, unlimited MySQL databases and subdomains, free automatic nightly backups, and Security Shield (which I will discuss in more detail in the Security Section).

Their VPS plans are scalable and go from 2 x 2.2 GHz CPUs, 2GB Dedicated RAM, 40GB SSD storage, and 1TB traffic on the OpenVZ SSD 2G, their smallest VPS plan, to 4 x 2.5 GHz CPUs, 8GB Dedicated RAM, 100GB SSD storage, and 4TB traffic on the BDIX SSD 8G plan. These also come with full root access, so you will have full control over your server.

Website Builder

Regrettably, ExonHost does not have a website builder among its products. However, they do provide Softaculous, a software program that enables users to install software such as WordPress – which is a kind of website builder. This software comes along with all Shared Hosting packages.

Security

As mentioned in this review, Security Shield is included with all Shared Hosting plans and includes an Advanced Firewall with Traffic Management, Access Control, SSL/SSH Inspection, and more. They also provide a 20GBps DDoS Protection (distributed denial-of-service attack), Intrusion Detection and protection, Real-Time Malware Detection, Proactive Defense, and Reputation Management. Reputation Management is the practice of monitoring, shaping, cultivating, and controlling what is said about a company online.

Additionally, all plans include free unlimited SSL certificates from Let’s Encrypt by default.

OS

ExonHost employs AlmaLinux (version 8.9 at the time of writing) across all their Shared Hosting plans. VPS customers can choose any one of several operating systems, including OpenBSD, Ubuntu, FreeBSD, CentOS, Debian, Gentoo, Fedora, Core OS, Open SUSE, or Windows Server.

Support

Customer service is provided via Live Chat, Phone, and an Email Ticketing system. The courteous and well-trained agents are available at all times and respond extremely promptly to questions or tickets. My experience was that tickets were responded to in under an hour, and on Live Chat, agents responded within 10 seconds each time.

They also possess a wide base of knowledge for users to diagnose faults and look up known fixes themselves.

Conclusion

ExonHost offers exceptionally well-structured and performance-optimized Shared Hosting plans that are not only cheap but also secure and very reliable. With the option to select from a list of data centers in the USA, Europe, and Asia, it is a very good choice for anyone who needs quality web hosting. When it comes to VPS, there are likely to be better alternatives.
