ScalaHosting VPS Review 2025

I write hosting reviews on a regular basis, and love to give input on what I think of providers and the services they offer. And recently, I turned my attention to ScalaHosting. They offer a range of services that include the likes of shared hosting, domain registrations, web security, and more, but I was particularly interested in the VPS offerings ScalaHosting sells because they've built quite a reputation around their own, custom-built control panel and management tools. I wanted to see if they really deliver on their promises of being such a powerful and cost-effective alternative to some of the bigger names out there.

In this ScalaHosting VPS review, I will cut through their marketing promises and give you a clear, honest look at their Linux and Windows plans – Yes, this provider offers both! We'll look at their VPS pricing structure, performance, and the unique key features that set them apart from the rest. If you're a growing business, a developer, or someone who's hit the limits of shared hosting, keep treading because this is for you.

ScalaHosting VPS Plans Overview

Right off the bat, and this I have briefly mentioned at the beginning of this review, is that ScalaHosting offers VPS plans in both Linux and Windows options, which is a big selling point for users with specific software requirements. Their plans are available in both managed and self-managed options, giving you control over the cost (managed is more expensive than unmanaged) and level of hands-on work required. ScalaHosting’s Linux-based plans come in four options to choose from, as well as the option to create your own server by choosing the number of CPUs, RAM, NVMe disk space, and more, while Windows plans only offer the custom-build option. Let’s take a look at what they offer:

ScalaHosting Linux-based VPS Plans:

ScalaHosting’s Linux VPS runs on their custom SPanel, which is their own custom-created control panel and is a direct alternative to cPanel. This is a massive deal because it eliminates the expensive cPanel licensing fees. They give their users the option to choose between LiteSpeed (license purchased separately), OpenLiteSpeed, Apache, or Nginx web servers, as well as a variety of databases that include MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. Here’s a breakdown of each plan.

The Build #1 Plan

A Good Start For Growing Websites

This plan is perfect for getting started in the world of VPS servers. It comes in at $19.95 per month and renews at $24.95 per month. It includes the following:

  • 2 Core CPUs;
  • 4GB RAM;
  • 50GB NVMe Disk Space.

The Build #2 Plan

Hitting the Sweet Spot for Small Businesses

When you start to outgrow the limits of their entry-level plan you, this would be your next option. They go for $36.95 per month and renews at $49.95 per month, which is not the cheapest on the market, but I would say it is still worth it for what you get. This plan comes with:

  • 4 Core CPUs;
  • 8GB RAM;
  • 100GB NVMe Disk Space.

The Build #3 Plan

A Resource-Heavy Option

While the previous two plans are more suited for the single user, this plan would grab the attention of developers with multiple sites or even agencies. To sign up for this plan, you will need to fork out $66.95 per month (renews at $95.95 per month), so clearly this isn’t for everyone. This plan includes:

  • 8 Core CPUs;
  • 16GB RAM;
  • 160GB NVMe Disk Space.

The Build #4 Plan

Their Enterprise-Grade Workhorse

This option comes in at an eye-watering $122.95 per month (renews at $183.95 per month) and is designed for high-traffic platforms, complex SaaS (Software as a Service), or sites with large databases. It comes with:

  • 16 Core CPUs;
  • 32GB RAM;
  • 240GB NVMe Disk Space.

All their Linux-based VPS plans come standard with full root access, free snapshots, a free dedicated IP address, and their Spanel to manage your server.

ScalaHosting Windows-based VPS Plans:

For those needing a Windows Server environment, ScalaHosting has you covered. Their ScalaHosting Windows VPS plans all run on blazing-fast Intel Xeon Gold processors, and you will have the option to choose between Windows Server 2019 or 2022. Unlike the Linux-based plans, their Windows-based servers are fully custom-made, so you will need to choose the number of CPUs, RAM, and NVMe storage space. These plans are naturally priced higher due to the Microsoft licensing costs, but they are positioned well within the market.

The Purchase & Registration Process:

Signing up for one of ScalaHosting’s VPS plans is a breeze. Simply open up your browser and head over to their website (https://scalahosting.com). Then click on “Hosting” on the top main menu and then on “Unmanaged Cloud Hosting” (or Managed Cloud Hosting if you want to go that route). The options are clearly displayed, and after making your choice, click on the “Get Started” button below the plan that you want to sign up for. The next page will ask for your personal details and payment method to complete the signup process. Quick and super-easy!

Key Features

SPanel & SWordPress Manager: This is their crown jewel. SPanel is clean, fast, and includes everything cPanel does without the fee. The SWordPress and Joomla Manager is fantastic for managing multiple WordPress sites, with automated updates and security hardening.

SShield Security: This is a 24/7 proactive security monitor that blocks over 99.98% of attacks. Having this included for free on managed plans is an incredible value and lifts a huge weight off your shoulders.

Fully Managed Services: With a managed plan, they handle all the server-level security, updates, and monitoring. You just focus on your website.

Free Snapshots: The ability to take a full server snapshot before making a major change is a lifesaver, and it's included.

Free Migration: They offer free website migrations, which is a must for anyone moving from another host.

Multiple Data Center Locations: Users can choose between 13 data centers within 4 continents to be as close to their target audience as possible.

What’s NOT Included:

It's crucial to be thorough. While they offer a free domain, it's only for the first year. After that, you pay the standard renewal rate. The managed service is comprehensive, but if you opt for a self-managed VPS, you are entirely on your own for security, updates, and software installation. Also, the free SSL certificate they include is a Let’s Encrypt certificate, so if you need a more secure one, you will need to pay extra.

Support and Performance:

If you get stuck, and let’s be clear – even fully managed users get stuck from time to time, you can reach their friendly and very knowledgeable support agents via live chat, email, or support tickets around the clock. They also have a vast knowledge base for self-help.

Performance-wise, the servers are built on enterprise-grade hardware with high-performance NVMe SSD storage, multiple data center locations, and a solid content delivery network. This ensures that sites are loaded blisteringly fast. The option to scale resources vertically (upgrading your plan) is straightforward and can be done with minimal downtime.

My Verdict

Is a ScalaHosting VPS Right for You in 2025?

So, after all this, where do I stand on ScalaHosting managed VPS pricing 2025 and its overall value? My verdict is definitely more positive than negative, and I would say they are.

A good fit if:

You are a business owner, developer, or agency looking for a powerful and secure VPS solution. The value of their managed services, including SPanel and SShield, cannot be overstated. If you want to escape the rising costs of cPanel and get a host that proactively handles security, ScalaHosting VPS hosting is a top contender. The availability of both Linux and ScalaHosting Windows VPS plans makes them incredibly versatile.

Maybe not so much, if:

Your absolute top priority is the rock-bottom cheapest price – they are not the cheapest I have seen. Also, if you are deeply wedded to the traditional cPanel interface and have no desire to learn a new system (even if it's simpler and free), you might hesitate.

My Final Thoughts

What ScalaHosting’s VPS plans offer has left me genuinely impressed. They are not just another hosting company, rather, they are innovating with their own tools to provide better value and security. The ScalaHosting VPS pricing 2025 is transparent, although it is rather expensive. For 2025, I would say they are presenting a compelling, powerful, and intelligent choice for anyone ready to step up to a serious hosting solution.
