GoDaddy Domain Registration

A Managed Solution for the Hands-Off User

GoDaddy is probably the hosting provider I dealt with most over my years as an IT professional, thus, I have spent a considerable amount of time poking and prodding GoDaddy's virtual private server (VPS) plans. In this review I'm ready to give you the full lowdown. Having looked at the GoDaddy VPS hosting plans in detail, what is included and what not, as well as putting their support agents to the test to see if their GoDaddy managed VPS service is a smart buy in 2025, or if you should look elsewhere. As probably the most recognizable name in the domain and hosting industry, GoDaddy promises a seamless, easy, and user-friendly experience. But does those promises translate into a powerful and cost-effective GoDaddy VPS Server? I will look at the GoDaddy VPS pricing, their features, and the all-important support to see if it’s the right fit for you.

Positioned as a fully managed service, a GoDaddy fully managed VPS server is aimed squarely at business owners and developers who want the power of a private server without the technical headache of administering it. You get the root access, but they handle the patching, updates, monitoring, and core security. It’s a tempting proposition, but as with all things, this convenience comes at a price. Let's get started to see what you are actually really getting for your money.

GoDaddy VPS Hosting Plans Overview

The first thing you'll notice on the VPS Hosting GoDaddy page is that it is a clean, simple layout, which comes expected from a provider of this stature. Unlike some providers that overwhelm you with a dozen tiers, GoDaddy keeps it simple with four plans for each of the two types of VPS servers they offer – these are Standard Performance and High-Performance. All plans come standard with blazing-fast NVMe SSD drives, DDoS protection, free SSL certificates, as well as full root access. They also offer servers in both Linux and Windows. Where most providers only opt for Linux-based offerings, GoDaddy gives you a choice. You can go for a GoDaddy Windows VPS server or the more standard Linux option, a flexibility that will be a major plus for many.

The GoDaddy pricing structure is tiered based on the RAM, NVMe SSD storage, and CPUs they include in each option. One thing new users need to be very aware of is that their advertised prices are introductory, so please do yourself a favour and pay attention to their renewal rates, as these are much higher. It is a common industry practice, but one that GoDaddy takes to the max! Let's look at the standard Performance VPS plans, which are the most common choice for GoDaddy VPS hosting.

The 1 vCPU / 2GB RAM Plan - Their Entry Point Option

If you are new to VPS hosting and you sign up with this provider, then this is the starting point for your GoDaddy VPS journey. It's priced at $10.09 per month for the initial 3-year term (so when you sign up you will pay $362.48 immediately), renewing at a much higher $483.44. Also, when it renews the SSL isn’t free anymore, and will cost you $134.39 annually. This plan is designed for smaller projects or a single website that needs consistent power. It includes:

  • 1 vCPU;
  • 2GB RAM;
  • 40GB NVMe SSD Storage Space.

The 2 vCPU / 4GB RAM Plan - The Middle Ground Server

This plan basically doubles the resources and is likely to hit the sweet spot for many growing businesses. It starts at $20.15 per month for the first 3-year term (you will have to fork out $725.36 immediately when you sign up) and renews at a heart stopping $1,007.60. Same as the first option, the free SSL will fall away and will cost you $134.39 per year. It comes with:

  • 2 vCPUs;
  • 4GB RAM;
  • 100GB NVMe SSD Disk Space.

The 4 vCPU / 8GB RAM Plan - For Busy Sites

This is where you start getting serious power but also need a serious budget to pay for it! This plan is suitable for a busy e-commerce store or even a small agency. The signup price is $39.19 per month for the initial 3-year term (you will pay $1,410.80 when you sign up) and it renews at $2,015.60 with the SSL costing you an additional $134.39 per year. This plan features:

  • 4 vCPUs;
  • 8GB RAM;
  • 200GB NVMe SSD Disk Space.

The 4 vCPU / 16GB RAM Plan – Their Top-Tier Standard Performance VPS Option

When you need maximum performance before moving up to the more expensive VPS plans, this is your top-tier GoDaddy VPS server. The introductory cost is $50.39 per month (you will pay $1,814.00 at sign-up), with an eye-watering renewal price of $2,418.80. Regarding the SSL – it’s the same story as with the other plans. This plans comes with:

  • 4 vCPUs;
  • 16GB RAM;
  • 200GB NVMe SSD Storage Space.

All their VPS plans will include snapshot backups, and the option between cPanel or Plesk as the control panel, depending on the operating system you choose. As mentioned before, the VPS Windows GoDaddy options mirror the specs of the Linux-based plans but run on the Windows Server operating system.

The GoDaddy Purchase & Registration Process

Their pricing structure is a bit of a headache, but luckily signing up for a GoDaddy VPS hosting plan is a breeze. You just need to go to their website, click on the “Hosting” button in the top main menu, and then on "VPS Hosting". You'll then be presented with the VPS plan options. After choosing your plan, click on “Configure Your Server” and the next page will ask you to choose your OS, billing term and control panel. You will notice there are options to sign up for hosting too, which you can ignore for now if you like. Lastly, when you then click on “Proceed to Checkout”, you just need to fill out your personal and billing details to complete the signup process. The whole process is super-easy and can be completed within minutes.

Key Features

Fully Managed VPS Servers: This is such an important feature. GoDaddy handles server setup, security patching, and core software updates, which is a massive time-saver, but, if you prefer to do it all yourself, they do have self-managed options too.

Free SSL Certificate: Although it is only included free of charge for the first term, securing your site's data is non-negotiable.

Snapshot Backups: They include 7 days of automated snapshot backups, with an option create a single on-demand snapshot backup.

DDoS Protection: Standard on all plans to help mitigate malicious attacks.

Good Uptime: They guarantee a 99.9% uptime with all their VPS plans.

Full Root Access: Whether you take a self-managed or fully managed VPS plan, you will still get full root access to control and customize any software as you see fit.

cPanel or Plesk Control Panels Included: cPanel (Linux) or Plesk (Windows) is included with their plans, which makes site management a breeze.

Support:

GoDaddy provides 24/7 support via phone and live chat. Personally, I feel that their support has gone south in recent years, but while writing this review they actually weren’t that bad! On live chat agents responded quickly, were polite, and gave decent answers and solutions to my issues. If they can’t assist right away you might be passed to a higher tier of support, which can take a little longer. Just be sure to have your PIN code and customer code ready as their agents will ask for that before they help you.

Security:

The security they offer is what I would expect the GoDaddy managed VPS options to include. They cover the core server security, including the OS and network firewalls, advanced DDoS protection, and complimentary SSL certificates. They cover the basics well.

Pros:

  • The "fully managed" aspect is a huge benefit for non-sysadmins.
  • Choice between Linux and Windows (vps windows godaddy).
  • Simple, straightforward setup and management.
  • Reliable performance and good uptime.
  • Unmetered bandwidth on all plans.
  • Easy one-click WordPress installation.

Cons:

  • Extremely high renewal prices. The jump from intro to standard rates is among the steepest in the industry. So once again, make sure it fits your budget before signing up!
  • Backup space is limited to 1GB; beyond that, it's an extra cost.

Is a GoDaddy VPS the Right Option for You?

After looking at everything and what they offer, the GoDaddy VPS hosting reviews 2025 will likely hinge on one thing, and that is your desire for a hands-off experience. So, I would say.

Yes, if:

You are a business owner, blogger, or developer who values simplicity and reliability above all else. You need the power of a VPS but have neither the time nor the inclination to handle server administration, and you have an almost unlimited budget.

Maybe not so much, if:

Your primary concern is long-term costs. The renewal rates for GoDaddy VPS plans are sky-high to say the least, definitely too expensive for many. If you are a skilled system administrator who enjoys fine-tuning every aspect of a server, you'll find the management layer restrictive and could get a better raw deal elsewhere.

My Bottom Line:

The GoDaddy VPS hosting pros and cons clearly balance on a knife's edge. GoDaddy delivers a powerful, user-friendly, and truly managed VPS service that takes the complexity out of server ownership. The hardware is robust, and the performance is solid. However, you must go in with your eyes wide open about the GoDaddy VPS hosting prices upon renewal. For the user who views server management as a distraction and is willing to pay for the convenience, they might be a good choice. Just be sure to calculate the multi-year cost before you commit.
