YourServer is a web hosting provider located in Riga, Latvia, and offer hosting services such as VPS Hosting and Dedicated Servers. YourServer is owned by Nano IT SIA and was founded in 2013. They currently have in excess of 10,000 clients across 115 countries globally, and operate two data centers in Riga, Latvia, and Gothenburg, Sweden.

Trial Period

If you're hoping to test the waters at YourServer before committing, you might want to brace yourself. They don't offer a free trial period or any money-back guarantee, so you’ll need to be sure you're ready to commit from the start. No refunds, no do-overs. That being said, they do provide solid services, so if you know what you’re looking for, this might not be a dealbreaker.

Billing Cycle

They keep things pretty straightforward when it comes to billing cycles. Users can choose from monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual options for both their VPS and Dedicated Server plans.

Control Panel

At YourServer you won't find any pre-installed control panels on their VPS or Dedicated Server hosting plans, but that’s because they’re more of an IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) provider. Instead, they give you full root access so you can install your favorite control panel, be it cPanel, ISPManager, or something else. Perfect for those who want full control, but maybe not ideal if you were hoping for a plug-and-play solution.

Limits

Their VPS plans, all running on Supermicro servers with Intel Xeon CPUs, ECC RAM, and blazing-fast Intel SSD drives, are available in three options. The first option comes with 1 Core CPU, 1GB RAM, and 10GB SSD disc space, the second option has 1 Core CPU, 4GB RAM, and 40GB SSD storage, and the third option gives you 2 Core CPUs, 8GB RAM, and 80GB SSD disc space. All plans come with unlimited bandwidth and the option of hosting your server in Latvia or Sweden.

Similarly, their Dedicated Server plans also offer three choices that range from a 12c / 24t Core Xeon E5-2678v3 CPU, 32GB RAM, and 128GB SSD storage on their entry-level plan, up to a12c / 24t Intel Xeon E5-2660v3 CPU, 32GB RAM, and 256GB SSD disc space on their top-tier Dedicated Server plan.

Website Builder

If you're looking for a hosting plan that includes a dedicated website builder, you'll probably need to check out other providers. YourServer focuses exclusively on VPS and Dedicated Server hosting. However, their parent company, Nano IT SIA, does offer Shared Hosting plans where you can install a CMS like WordPress or Joomla, which are essential tools for building websites.

Security

When it comes to security at YourServer, they have only the absolute basics in place. They provide DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack protection, an attack aimed to overwhelm a target website with fake traffic, and a network firewall with customizable rules to fend off unwanted traffic. However, beyond these measures, the responsibility for additional security falls on the user.

OS

YourServer offers a decent range of operating systems for its users. On their VPS plans, you get to choose between a variety of reliable options like CentOS 7, AlmaLinux 8 & 9, Debian 10, 11, and 12, or Ubuntu versions ranging from 18.04 up to 24.04. That means you can go for the stability of Debian, the flexibility of Ubuntu, or the compatibility AlmaLinux brings to the table. For dedicated server plans, the choices are a bit more streamlined but still cover essential bases, with AlmaLinux 8, CentOS 7, Debian 10, or Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04.

Support

They keep things simple with technical support, as help is offered exclusively via Support Tickets. So, when things go south, you'll need to submit a ticket and wait for a response. On the upside, they’ve got a pretty decent knowledge base, so if you're the DIY type, you can troubleshoot a lot of issues yourself. Response times on Tickets are also very quick! I was assisted within 10 minutes on multiple occasions by friendly and helpful agents.

Conclusion

YourServer might just be the right fit for those who know their way around VPS and Dedicated Servers but don’t mind taking care of the nitty-gritty details themselves. It’s great for tech-savvy users who love full control, as YourServer hands over root access and expects you to sort out things like control panels and security. Newbies or users looking for standard Shared Hosting might be better off looking elsewhere.
