First impression

Wavenet, based in Buenos Aires, is one of the oldest cloud services providers in Argentina. The company was established in 1999 and is a leader in cloud computing as well as cybersecurity in the region. Wavenet forms part of the Xenesis Group S.A. They offer a range of services including cloud hosting, cloud servers, and virtual data centers, and also provide specialized solutions like big data analytics, email marketing, corporate email services, security audits, and more.

Trial Period

This provider offers potential clients a full 30 days trial on their cloud hosting, cloud servers, as well as their virtual data center services, which should be more than enough time to test out and make sure they are the right fit for your needs.

Billing Cycle

As far as billing cycles go, they've kept it simple at Wavenet. For their Cloud Hosting services, you can bill monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually, which gives you some decent flexibility depending on your budget or level of commitment. Their Cloud Servers, on the other hand, are strictly month-to-month billing, which is great if you don't want to be locked into a long-term commitment or need the flexibility to scale on a whim.

They now accept payments via Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Bank Transfers, and PagoMisCuentas, which is a very widely used online payment system in Argentina that allows customers to pay all of their bills in one place easily and securely.

Control Panel

In experimenting with the hosting via Wavenet, I was glad to find that their Apache web servers support the cPanel control panel, whereas both their Apache and IIS web servers support the Plesk control panel. This is fantastic as it gives you the ability to manage your hosting setup with ease. cPanel is perfect for Linux-based servers, it’s so easy to use for tasks such as creating domains, managing email accounts, or working with databases. On the other hand, Plesk is so versatile as it accommodates both Linux and Windows servers. It’s perfect for site management, automating tasks, and even for hosting multiple coding environments at the same time.

Limits

Their Cloud Hosting, available in 2 plans, utilizes shared processors (AMD EPYC) and RAM resources, i.e., these resources are drawn from a common pool of pooled servers rather than being dedicated to a single physical server. Think of it as a gigantic reservoir where all the processing capability (CPU) and memory space (RAM) are pooled and dynamically allocated based on the demand of each user or application. This structure offers excellent flexibility and scalability since you can draw as much power as you need without worrying about hardware limitations. It also offers the potential for enhanced performance and uptime since the system can redistribute resources or fall back on an alternate server in the pool in the event of a single failure. The Standard plan offers 100GB SSD storage and 500GB traffic, and the Advanced plan offers 200GB SSD disc space and 700GB monthly traffic.

Wavenet's Cloud Servers, on the other hand, have 3 plans which begin at 4 AMD EPYC CPUs, 600GB SSD disk space, 4GB RAM on the Standard Plan to a staggering 25TB SSD disk space, 4TB RAM, and 256 AMD EPYC CPUs on the Custom plan. The Custom plan is literally what the name suggests - users can design their own specifications. The ones I have listed here are the maximum.

Website Builder

Wavenet does not provide a website builder as part of their services. Their focus is primarily Cloud Computing, Cyber Security services, Cloud Hosting, Cloud Servers, and Virtual Data Centers, and not Shared Hosting as such. If you wish to host a website under their services, you would need to use external website builder software or content management systems (CMS) like WordPress that can be installed on their hosting services. In this way, you can enjoy Wavenet's high-quality infrastructure while you can select a website builder software of your choice that suits you best.

Security

In my experience, G2K Hosting is serious about security on their hosting plans and infrastructure. They've got firewalls, DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) protection, and periodic backups of your data for continuity and data protection. And their servers are housed in secure data centers with access control, so you can be sure they’re not cutting corners on physical security. That said, I did notice a couple of holes - they don't have higher-end features like malware scanning or website security tools included by default. If you need those add-ons, they do offer add-on services for items like SSL certificates and extra security features, but for a fee. So while they've got a good security foundation, you might need to pay a bit extra if your project needs high levels of security.

OS

When I checked out Wavenet's Cloud Hosting packages, I found that they're hosted on Linux servers with CentOS 7, which is well known for its stability and performance, and Windows servers with Windows Server 2019, with excellent enterprise software support. If you're opting for their Cloud Servers instead, you do have a good selection of operating systems to choose from. You can choose CentOS 7, Ubuntu 20.04, and Debian 10 for Linux, and for Windows, you can choose Windows Server 2016 or 2019. Having this amount of flexibility is wonderful, as it lets you choose the OS that is best for your needs, whether you're coding on Linux or need a Windows environment for specialty software.

Support

They do provide several support routes to assist their customers in availing support whenever they require it. You are able to contact their team by email, Whatsapp, a ticketing system or directly via phone support. Based on my own experience, answers to tickets and emails are always within 24 hours, typical of most web hosting companies. Agents are professional and accommodating.

Conclusion

Pros Cons
  • 30-Day Trial;
  • Military-Grade Security;
  • Powerful Infrastructure;
  • SSD Storage.
  • Expensive;
  • No Website Builder.

Wavenet is definitely a great hosting option, but whether or not it’s best for you will depend on your needs. If you have a business that requires to be supported by the most secure, highest server uptime, and most scalable security, then Wavenet is great with its "military-grade" security features and scalable cloud hosting. It’s perfect for medium to large businesses or tech-savvy individuals who need heavy-duty infrastructure and flexibility. But it might not be perfect for newbies or small projects because their plans can be a little daunting and don’t have some newbie-friendly features like an included website builder. And their prices won’t cut it for those pinching pennies. Overall, Wavenet is perfect for those who value reliability and high-end features but aren’t bothered with the lack of ease of use.
