Turhost is Turkey-based web hosting company that was formed in 2004 in Izmir, on the Turkish Aegean coast. Since then, Turhost has grown to become one of Turkey's leading hosting companies, offering services such as Domain Registrations, Shared Hosting, Virtual Private Server Hosting (VPS Hosting), Virtual Dedicated Server Hosting (VDS Hosting), Dedicated Server Hosting, E-Mail Services, Streaming Services (Live Broadcast), and Internet Commerce Projects.

Trial Period

This leading provider unfortunately doesn’t offer a free trial period, so you won’t be able to test out their hosting without a commitment. However, they do provide a 15-day money-back guarantee on their shared hosting plans, which is a nice safety net if you decide it’s not the right fit for you. It gives you enough time to explore their features and service quality without much risk, so while there’s no true “trial,” you still have some flexibility to change your mind early on.

Billing Cycle

Turhost offers its clients a great level of flexibility regarding payment for hosting plans. With their Shared Hosting plans, payment can be made monthly, annually, biannually, or even once every three years. For VPS hosting, they have monthly, quarterly, yearly, and triennial options. If you choose the triennial cycle on VPS hosting, you can get up to a 13% discount, which is great for those looking to cut costs in the future!

They currently accept Visa and Mastercard as valid payment methods.

Control Panel

When you sign up for their Shared Hosting plans, cPanel is included as your control panel, easy to use and perfect for managing anything from website files to email. On their VPS Hosting plans, you have the option to use cPanel, Plesk, or DirectAdmin, whichever suits your mood. cPanel is the go-to for most people (my own personal choice as well), offering an organized, easy-to-use interface. Plesk is perfect when working with multiple sites or have support for both Linux- or Windows-based installations. DirectAdmin is lighter, perfect for someone wanting simplicity but functionality.

Limits

Turhost’s Shared Hosting options come in five distinct plans, each tailored for different needs. The 'Mini' plan is ideal for personal blogs or small websites, offering enough resources to get started, as it comes with 1 Core CPU, 1GB RAM, 1GB NVMe SSD disc space, and 10x POP/IMAP email accounts. Next up they offer the 'Beginning' plan, which features 1 Core CPU, 2GB RAM, 3GB NVMe storage, and 10x POP/IMAP email accounts. Still probably only suitable for basic websites. The 'Unlimited' plan, which is next on the list, seems to cater more to demanding projects, as it comes with 2 Core CPUs, 4GB RAM, and unlimited NVMe disc space and POP/IMAP email accounts, making it perfect for small businesses or growing sites. The ”Unlimited” plan also has two additional options, the 'Unlimited +', which allows for 10 domains, and the 'Unlimited ++', which allows for unlimited domains, both suited for e-commerce or high-traffic websites. Each plan also includes free SSL, automated backups, and a one-click app installer.

Their VPS plans, on the other hand, are also available in multiple options that range from 1x Intel Xeon E5 2.8GHz/3.6GHz vCPU, 20GB NVMe SSD disc space, and 1GB ECC RAM on the VPS1 plan, up to 10x Intel Xeon E5 2.8GHz/3.6GHz vCPU, 500GB NVMe SSD storage, and 64GB ECC RAM on the VPS64 plan.

Website Builder

For an additional monthly fee, users can purchase Turhost’s website builder to quickly and effortlessly create an online presence. This builder uses the SiteKur application, a user-friendly tool designed to make website creation easy, especially for beginners. It offers a variety of templates where you can replace the existing text and images with your own. While it’s great for getting online fast, it’s important to note that it’s quite basic. If you’re after more advanced features or designs, a CMS like WordPress would be a better choice.

Security

Their hosting plans and infrastructure offer standard security features that one would expect from a reliable provider. This is available in terms of firewalls, high-level security settings, and regular scans to keep malware, ransomware, and distributed denial-of-service attacks at bay. Furthermore, data is backed up on a routine basis to offer reassurance, and all plans come standard with a free SSL certificate. This offers protection for all browser to site connectivity to ensure that it is encrypted and safe. Anti-spam security and virus protection, however, have an additional fee because this is not included by default.

OS

Turhost provides a decent range of operating systems. On their Shared Hosting plans, they run CloudLinux, which is known for its stability and security, perfect for keeping your site running smoothly in a shared environment. If you're going for VPS hosting, you get to choose from AlmaLinux, Ubuntu, Debian, and both Windows 2019 and Windows 2022, plus, their server infrastructure supports all Linux VPS derivatives, so no matter which flavor of Linux you prefer, you’ll be good to go!

They offer a variety of support channels to help its customers. You can reach their team 24/7 via Live Chat for instant assistance or use their Email and Phone support for more specific queries. If you prefer a more detailed way to track issues, they also offer a Support Ticket System. In my experience, the agents came across as friendly and professional, and they replied within an hour on Tickets, and replies on Live Chat were nearly instant. They also have a comprehensive knowledge base filled with articles, guides, and FAQs, perfect for those who like to troubleshoot on their own. 

Conclusion

In my opinion, Turhost is a decent hosting option, especially if you're looking for a balance of affordability, performance, and support. Features like LiteSpeed servers and CloudLinux OS make their plans fast and secure. Their customer support is responsive and friendly, and flexible payment options make it convenient. However, their website builder is pretty basic, so it's better for simpler setups.
