First impression
RimuHosting is a New Zealand-based web host provider with a long history. They started business way back in December of 2002, but their parent organization, Rimu Hosting Limited, has been in existence since 1997. They are based in Cambridge, New Zealand, and specialize in Linux VPS and dedicated server hosting services, and in the process have become a favorite among developers, sysadmins, and businesses that need flexible hosting. They specialize in Java and JSP application specialty hosting, and their environment is based on Xen virtualization, with support for a variety of Linux distributions, including Debian, Ubuntu, and Red Hat. They offer 24/7 Linux sysadmin support, a 30-day money-back guarantee, and a 99.9% uptime SLA for a secure and stable environment for technical customers.

Trial Period
This host doesn't offer any free trials, and, to be honest, it's not that surprising - they're VPS and Dedicated servers experts, whereas free trials are more of a shared hosting provider sort of thing. Don't count them out just yet, though, best part - they do offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. So, you can sign up, and try out their hosting, and if it's not quite the perfect fit, you can get a refund in the first month. It's not quite a risk-free joyride, but it does give you a nice safety net to try out their services without fully committing yourself.
Billing Cycle
Their billing is as straightforward as possible - no contract jargon or surprise renewal fees here. They're month-to-month, pay-in-advance, so you know where you stand. And when it comes to payment, they have plenty of options to make it easy. You can pay by all the major credit cards or PayPal, which makes it easy for overseas clients. If you're based in NZ, you even have the option of automatic bank payment for a no-fuss solution. Not NZ-based? No worries - you can still pay by wire transfer, but you'll have to organize that bit yourself.
Control Panel
Root access is included as a standard option with RimuHosting's VPS hosting plans. You may use any control panel that suits your workflow the best. If you don't feel like searching for one, RimuHosting offers Webmin, Plesk, and Virtualmin as installation choices. Webmin is a light, free web-based control panel perfect for whoever needs an easy way of server administration. Plesk is a more polished, user-friendly option that streamlines website and email management. Virtualmin is a favorite among developers and sysadmins who require an open-source alternative with inherent multi-domain support.
Limits
You completely own your VPS, so you can set it up and tailor it to your needs. However, to make it simple, they provide three points to start with. The Budget plan offers 7260MB of RAM and 4GB of SSD storage - ideal for small sites. Need more juice? The Popular plan offers 9685MB RAM with 16GB of SSD storage. And for large players who need some serious resources, the Large plan offers 10309MB of RAM and 32GB of SSD storage. And to put the icing on the cake, you're not stuck in one place - you can host your server in Dallas, London, Brisbane, Sydney, or Auckland. Loads of freedom to get the right configuration in the right location!

For their dedicated server offerings, clients have the option of three locations - Dallas, London, and Auckland.
Dallas servers are located in Colo4Dallas facility, which is known to be stable with on-site support available 24/7.
Choices vary from dual CPU configurations, the Jaketown Xeon (E5-2630v2) with a maximum of 128GB RAM and the Haswell Xeon (E5-2640v3) with a maximum of 256GB RAM. Storage varies from 2TB to 4TB, with SSD and RAID configurations for enhanced performance. London servers offer a mix of Intel Single CPU E3 Xeon and Dual Xeon servers, ideal for high-performance environments. Full details and prices are on application, with custom setups negotiable for those who need SSDs or SAS drives, while their Auckland-based servers are for New Zealand clients, where the 64GB Dual E5 VM Host with 12 cores (24 threads), a maximum of 4TB storage.

Website Builder
They don't have a drag-and-drop, standalone website builder included in their package. They do have specialty strong VPS and dedicated server packages with full root access, however, which means you get to control everything.
Unless you don't care to manage your own server installation, you can just install a content management system like WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal and be ready to begin building your website. But if you need something more self-service, you will need to look harder for that one-stop shop website builder.
Security
With regard to security, RimuHosting has adopted a myriad of stringent measures to ensure security and integrity to its services.
They possess redundant diesel generators, closed-circuit TV, card key entry, 24/7 security guards, redundant air conditioning, and redundant UPSes, which make them a safe and stable environment to house servers.
They also keep an eye on the servers 24/7, and sysadmins get paged if something is not right, so problems get resolved quickly. But the fact remains that although they do offer a good infrastructure, precise information about some other security features like DDoS protection, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), or malware scan services is not clearly stated on their website. I have queried this question many times with their support too, and they were not able to confirm me whether these measures are in place or not. So, the customer appears to have to bring their own security features to enjoy complete protection for their own requirements.
OS
On their VPS packages, you can choose Debian, Ubuntu LTS (Long Term Support), or Rocky Linux - all three being stable and reliable for different needs.
If you're signing up for a dedicated server, your choice runs to CentOS, Debian, and Ubuntu. If you prefer Debian's solid foundations, Ubuntu's ease of use with long-term support, or Rocky Linux as a CentOS alternative, RimuHosting is flexible.

Support
RimuHosting offers several support channels to aid their customers in the right manner. You may contact them through support tickets, email, live chat (business hours), telephone, and even Twitter (currently X).
They also have a support request status page in their website, so you can see the status of your questions in real time. They also respond fast - you can get an answer within an hour within office hours or within three hours outside of office hours. Their representatives are also friendly and accommodating.

RimuHosting is the unsung hero in the corner - not necessarily the flashiest, maybe, but rock-solid where it counts. If you're a developer with Linux skills, an organization that needs a high-end VPS, or anyone who wants total control over a dedicated server, this is your kind of hosting. They're all centered around tech-infused reliability, personalization, and performance.
