First impression

Loopia has been in the hosting business for a little over 20 years. With over 200,000 customers, they're the largest hosting services in Scandinavia. Their data centers are located in Arizona, California, and Nevada.

Loopia is primarily a web host and offers a few different packages depending on what you need. They have one package aimed at private individuals and two packages aimed at companies. However, you can choose what suits you best and there is nothing to prevent you from choosing the company package as a private person, for example.

Trial period

Loopia doesn't offer a free trial on their hosting or any of their services, but they do apply a 30 day refund policy on web hosting. If you’re not satisfied with their services, you will get your money back. Any domain names and extra services such as Microsoft 365 are not covered by this warranty.

Billing cycle

Loopia offers three different web hosting packages called Private, Business and Business Plus. Loopia offers plans from $7 to $84. The price depends on which type of hosting plan you choose. You can see the updated pricing table (updated weekly) below.

Switching or upgrading Loopia plans is easy and you can do that directly from your control panel. Overall, you’ll have an easy time moving from page to page. I want to believe this simplicity extends to the control panel. Apart from being neat, I like the fact that they use comparative tables to compare plans.

In any of their hosting services, you can choose to pay Monthly, 3 Months and/or 1 Year billing cycles.

Control panel

Loopia runs a self-developed control panel that has received some criticism over the years. It is not automatically bad, but it uses an interface that departs from the standards a little, which means that as an inexperienced administrator you need to spend extra time in their control panel. We are also a bit critical of this as we believe it could have been much clearer, but at the same time you learn later.

Login to their control panel or Customer Zone as they call it is done with username and password. Here you have the option to apply BankID as login and you can add people who can use BankID to log in and manage the account. This provides increased security, which is positive.

In the control panel, you get full access to manage your domains , subdomains, websites, SSL, e-mail addresses, databases, FTP accounts and everything that one expects to be able to manage. You can also access your invoices and payment methods here.

Limits

Loopia offers three shared hosting plans: Home, Business, and Business Plus. With the Home plan, you get 75 GB web space, a similar email space, unlimited email addresses, and 25 MariaDB databases. You will also receive free technical support and daily backups with your Unix hosting.

The Business plan is the other option on the table. With your Windows or Unix hosting, you get 150 GB web space, 150 GB email space, and a bandwidth of 1500GB per month. In addition, you  get access to a small website builder, unlimited domains, POP3 & IMAP email accounts, 50 FTP accounts, and scripting languages.

With 200GB web space, a similar storage for emails, and 2000 GB bandwidth. Business Plus is the ultimate hosting package. This plan lets you create unlimited email accounts and domains. It just builds on the Business plan.

If you’re looking for dedicated hosting resources, you may want to consider Loopia VPS. It comes with IPV4 and IPV6 addresses, 1GB RAM, and 20GB hard drive space. Security

Increase the security of your website's visitors with an SSL/TLS certificate. Get an https address and climb higher on Google as a bonus!

SSL/TLS certificates are signed, allowing the visitors to confirm your website’s identity by e.g. clicking the padlock icon in the address field of your browser. They offer two Premium SSL certificates that are registered and renewed annually or for several years (the more years, the cheaper) and also Let's Encrypt which is included in their hosting packages. If you already have a certificate, you can easily add it within the Loopia Customer zone.

OS

A big advantage of Loopia compared to some other leading web hosting companies is that you can choose on each individual website whether it should run Linux or Windows. This makes it possible to access technologies such as ASP.NET in a good way where Loopia supports both version 3.5 and 4.5. In the company packages, you can have 1 or 5 MS SQL databases as well, which opens up other types of applications for you who develop in Dotnet.

Support

Loopia's support can be one of the best in Sweden with a good, pleasant and helpful attitude. This makes Loopia a good alternative for companies and those who think they may need support.

Of course their support is free of charge and anything else would not be acceptable. You reach them every day of the year by phone, e-mail, chat and also through social media such as Twitter and Facebook.

The opening hours for their support are weekdays between 7am-9pm and weekends between 11am-3pm.
