First impression

The website is user-friendly and easy to navigate. Shared hosting packages are relatively cheap: $4.2 per month. If you order a package for more than one year, the monthly price will be lower.

The company also offers managed WordPress hosting. Unlike other similar WordPress hosting packages provided by other companies, this package includes software and module installation, domain name registration and a website template at your choice. You just need to describe the support team what kind of website do you want and everything, apart from the content (you have to upload it on your own), will be done for you. Basically, you get a fully developed WordPress website for a very low price (from approximately $3 to $7 per month).

Also, AvaHost provides small, but cheap, VPS servers. The pricing varies between $9 and $27 per month. All of the server characteristics are indicated in the plans description.

Trial period - 7 days

Trial period is available only for Shared hosting. To get it, you need to order a hosting package firstly and then contact AvaHost support team and they will activate the trial period for you. Also, it is possible to get a refund for Shared and VPS hosting packages within 60 days after the purchase.

Registration process - standard

The registration process is quick. To register an account you need to enter your contact information and postal address.

Control panel

cPanel is available for Shared hosting packages. The panel is easy to navigate: all of the features are located on one page and contain short descriptions. The package details as well as the resource usage statistics are located on the home page which is quite comfortable.

As for VPS servers, it is possible either to install Webuzo, ISPconfig, Webmin, VestaCP or CentOS Web panel for free or cPanel at an additional cost ($12/mo).

Security

It is possible to enable leech and hotlink protection in cPanel. Also, you can enable IP block and ModSecurity in the panel. Though, be careful with the latter as it may block necessary elements if configured incorrectly. This may cause for the website to stop working properly.

As for hosting security, Shared hosting packages are not very well-protected: the company provides only an antivirus and a software firewall. VPS server security maintenance and monitoring is under the customer's responsibility. AvaHost provides daily backups for all of their hosting packages.

Limits

Shared hosting. You can send up to 250 emails per hour. The size of the email itself is limited to 2 Mb. The maximum memory capacity (memory_limit parameter) is 512 Mb per one php-script and maximum script execution time (max_execute_time parameter) is 1000 seconds. All other limits (number of domains, mail boxes etc) are indicated in the plan descriptions.

VPS hosting. The servers have standard RAM, disk space and CPU core limits that can be found in the plan description. Both VPS and Shared hosting packages have unlimited bandwidth.

Support

The company provides 24/7 chat, phone and ticket multilingual support. The representatives are quick but not very accurate.

Conclusion

Generally, this hosting is not bad. The support team is rather quick, the prices are quite low and the knowledgebase is good. However, taking into consideration that security maintenance is mostly under customer’s responsibility, this hosting is more suitable for proficient users.
