Sean Thompson
I am a full-time web developer & IT professional with more than 18 years experience. I have been working with numerous hosting companies over the years.
First impression
UKHost4u is an independently owned, Scottish-based hosting provider that was founded in 1999 by Paul Huges in Edinburg, Scotland. They have been providing affordable and reliable hosting services, including Shared Hosting, VPS Hosting, Dedicated Server Hosting, Domain Registrations, SSL certificates, as well as VOIP (Voice over IP) services for over 2 decades and have been ranked as one of the UK’s leading hosting providers.
Trial Period
UKHost4u doesn’t offer any free trial periods to test out their services, but as there are no contracts on any of their plans, you can sign up for 1 month without any long-term commitments. Should you then feel that they don’t live up to expectations, simply cancel your accounts with them for a full refund, as they have a 30-day, risk-free, no-quibble refund policy in place.
It is important to note that domain names are exempt from the 30-day money-back guarantee.
Billing Cycle
Their Shared Hosting plans provide customers with the flexibility to sign up on a monthly, yearly, or triennial basis, with substantial discounts available for longer terms. Moreover, opting for a three-year plan, which is already affordable as it is, grants you an additional year for free. For VPS users, the options include monthly or annual commitments.
They accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as bank transfers as valid payment methods, and can also set up a direct debit if required.
Control Panel
UKHost4u primarily offers cPanel on their Shared Hosting plans, however, they do have 1 server running Plesk for WordPress hosting. Their VPS Hosting on the other hand offers a choice between cPanel, Plesk, if you are opting for a Windows-based server, or CyberPanel, a simple, fast, and reliable open-source control panel for cloud hosting.
Limits
Their Shared hosting plans, running on super-fast Litespeed web servers with Image Optimisation, Minify, HTTP/2, Caching for WordPress, and SSD drives, offer users 3 options to choose from. The Basic plan features an impressive 50GB SSD disc space, which is way more than most entry-level plans out there, 1GB RAM, and is limited to one website only. The Advanced plan comes with 100GB SSD space, 2GB RAM, and a limit of 10 websites, whilst the Business plan boasts 400GB SSD storage, and 3GB RAM and can handle up to 20 websites. All these plans come standard with unlimited MySQL databases, POP/IMAP email accounts, and Bandwidth, as well as a free SSL certificate by Let’s Encrypt and complimentary daily backups.
The VPS servers from UKHost4u, equipped with cutting-edge dual 24-core Xeon CPUs, provide customers with a selection of scalable plans. These plans offer a range of options starting from the Entry plan, which includes 30GB SSD disk space, 1x vCPU, and 2GB RAM, all the way up to the Ultimate plan, their top tier option, which boasts 300GB SSD space, 6x vCPUs, and 16GB RAM. Similar to the Shared Hosting plans, daily backups are included as standard with these offerings.
Website Builder
UKHost4u provides its users with the SitePad website builder, available in 3 options that range in allocated disc space and email accounts included. This contemporary drag-and-drop website builder simplifies the design process with its intuitive functionality and user-friendly interface. With access to over 850 easily customizable templates, users can effortlessly create a professional and visually appealing site by selecting desired components and dragging them to their preferred location.
Security
The entire network of UKHost4u sits behind a firewall and is shielded with Corero SmartWall® DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) protection, along with complimentary enterprise spam protection and SSL certificates provided by Let’s Encrypt. Moreover, each account is segregated from others through the utilization of CloudLinux’s CageFS for user isolation. Additionally, their servers are safeguarded by ImunifyAV, an advanced antivirus and security monitoring tool for websites, offering features such as one-click automatic malware cleanup, domain reputation monitoring, blacklist status checks, and a network firewall.
In the rare event of data loss or corruption, automatic daily backups with JetBackup ensure easy file restoration.
OS
All their Shared Hosting servers utilize the CloudLinux OS (Operating System), a stable and secure OS offering fine-grained control of a server's resources, whilst their VPS servers offer a wide array of operating systems, including CloudLinux, CentOS, AlmaLinux, Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, Arch Linux, Suse Linux, FreeBSD, Gentoo, Xandros, OpenBSD, Slackware, PuppyLinux, Scientific Linux, Knoppix, and Windows 10, 11 or Windows Server 2019, they also have a couple with windows 7 and server 2012 per user request.
Support
Their support agents, friendly and knowledgeable, can be reached by Live Chat, a Ticketing System or by Phone, which is only available from 9 am to 5 pm GMT on weekdays. There is also a pretty decent knowledge base on their website to troubleshoot most common issues yourself, as well as helpful video tutorials, and a FAQ section. Expect tickets to get answered in less than 3 hours in general on email and within minutes on live chat.

UKHost4u offers affordable and reliable hosting options. They use premium, performance-optimized hardware, and even their entry-level plans offer more than most users would need. What I like most is that they keep things simple, they steer away from complicating things, a mistake a lot of providers make these days. An excellent hosting option in my opinion.
