First impression
SilkHost is a web host service provider based in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, and was founded in 2012. They provide the complete array of services, which include Domain Registrations, Shared Hosting, Cloud VMs, VPS Hosting, and Dedicated Server Hosting to their customers worldwide. They provide different web hosting packages, and their service is suitable for anyone from beginners to medium and large-sized enterprises as well.

Trial Period
If you're curious about their services but not ready to commit, this hosting company lets you try risk-free with their 30-day money-back guarantee on shared hosting plans. You can sign up, use everything for a full month, and if it doesn't meet your expectations, simply ask for your money back - they'll process a full refund without giving you any trouble.
Billing Cycle
When it comes to shared hosting, SilkHost keeps things simple with just two payment options: pay once a year or every two years. Either way, you'll get a free domain name included with your plan. Their VPS and cloud VM services work differently though, operating strictly on monthly subscriptions. Payment is flexible with options covering both local and international methods - credit cards (Visa/Mastercard), digital payment services (PayPal, Skrill, Easypaisa, JazzCash), bank transfers (including IBFT), mobile payment solutions like UBL Omni and MobiCash, and even Western Union for international transactions.

Control Panel
Their hosting packages come equipped with the very popular cPanel Control Panel and their own Easy Control Panel, both of which facilitate website management for you. Easy Control Panel, also cPanel-driven, comes with a simple and easy-to-navigate design that lets you manage tasks like creation of e-mail accounts, domain management, application installations, and checking website status in a breeze. Its one-click installation of popular apps like WordPress lets you save technical effort so that you can focus on building your web presence. For VPS packages, SilkHost offers full root access, where customers can also include their own choice of control panel for full customization.
Limits
At the core of SilkHost’s offerings is their Shared Hosting, and as a result, they provide a wide choice of scalable hosting packages across both Windows and Linux-based systems. They range between the Basic Plan, which includes 1GB HDD (regular HDD, rather than fast SSD storage), free domain, 20GB bandwidth, subdomains, and POP/IMAP e-mail accounts, and the Business Plan, which is their top-of-the-range Shared Hosting plan and includes 10GB HDD disc space, free domain, subdomains, POP/IMAP e-mail accounts, and 100GB bandwidth. What was surprising was that there was nothing in the outline of their packages that suggested how many e-mail accounts or subdomains each one comes with, and their support staff were unable to inform me of this either.

Their VPS plans are set at four different tiers and each comes with unlimited bandwidth and an IPv4 Static IP address. The basic PK Plan 1 includes a 1 Core CPU, 2GB RAM, and 10GB Fast SSD disk space, while the highest PK Plan 4 includes 8 Core CPUs, 16GB RAM and 80GB SSD storage.

All plans include a complimentary SSL certificate by Let’s Encrypt.
Website Builder
Getting started is easy with 1-click installs for WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal - perfect for creating professional sites without coding. If you'd rather not do it yourself, their in-house web team can handle the design work for you.
Security
Your websites and accounts get solid protection with multiple security layers. They use Anti-DDoS protection to prevent downtime from attacks, plus SiteLock for daily malware scans and automatic threat removal. There's also a web application firewall (WAF) to block hackers, and Imunify360 - this smart tool combines a powerful firewall, brute force attack prevention, and even virtual patching for outdated WordPress sites. Every plan includes a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate to keep data secure.
OS
Currently they only use CloudLinux, which actually works great for shared hosting. CloudLinux's special LVE technology keeps each user's account separate, so if one site gets sudden traffic spikes, it won't slow down other sites on the server. This means better stability and faster loading for everyone. Their support team mentioned they might add more operating system choices soon.
Support
This is where things get frustrating. Support is available by email, tickets, and phone, but responses are unreliable. Emails often go unanswered, and support tickets take 1-2 days to get a reply - which usually doesn't fully solve the problem. There's no live chat option, and their knowledge base is practically empty with just two basic articles. Definitely an area that needs improvement.

In my opinion, SilkHost falls short as a reliable hosting option primarily due to its inadequate customer support. I got the sense that the company tries to run on autopilot, where users sign up, and they cross their fingers clients don't run into problems, unfortunately, that's not how things work. Quality providers these days all have one thing in common, and that is excellent customer support. I would be hesitant to recommend them as a hosting option to potential users.
