Sean Thompson
I am a full-time web developer & IT professional with more than 18 years experience. I have been working with numerous hosting companies over the years.
First impression
WebHost1 is a web hosting service provider based in Moscow, Russia. Established in 2008, the company is led by CEO Dmitriy Podelko. They host over 150,000 websites and operate data centers in Russia, Moldova, Israel, the USA, and the Netherlands. Their services include domain registrations, shared hosting, VPS/VDS hosting, and dedicated server hosting.
Trial Period
WebHost1 offers a 30-day trial period for their Shared Hosting plans, allowing customers to test the service before committing. For their VPS (Virtual Private Server) and VDS (Virtual Dedicated Server) plans, they provide a 30-day money-back guarantee instead of a free trial. Additionally, if you're transferring your VDS/VPS service from another provider, they offer the first 2 months free.
Billing Cycle
Their Shared Hosting plans allow users to pay monthly, biannually, annually, or biennially, while VPS/VDS plans offer monthly, quarterly, biannual, or annual signup options. Subscribers opting for longer terms can enjoy discounts of up to 15% on Shared Hosting and 25% on VDS/VPS plans.
They currently accept payments via Visa, Mastercard, MIR/UnionPay, SberPay, SBP, and Bank Transfers.
Control Panel
WebHost1 utilizes the ISPmanager control panel on their Shared Hosting plans. This Linux-based control panel offers a user-friendly interface from where you can manage your website and hosting space. It comes with a full set of tools to manage databases, emails, SSL certificates, one-click install for popular content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, and more, as well as a graphical code editor.
VPS and VDS plans on the other hand come with full root access, allowing you to install a control panel of your choice, you can also request FastPanel or CloudPanel to be installed by their technicians free of charge.
Limits
Their Shared Hosting plans, all powered by lightning-fast NVMe drives that are much quicker than standard HDDs, offering read/write speeds up to 1100 MB/s and up to 500,000 IOPS, come in 6 flexible and budget-friendly options. Starting from the NVME 15 GB plan, which includes 15GB of NVMe disk space and 768MB of RAM, to their top-tier VIP 90 GB plan, ideal for busy sites like e-commerce, with 90GB of NVMe disk space and 2048MB of RAM. They even offer a customizable plan where you can tailor your storage needs, ranging from 120GB up to a maximum of 200GB.
All these plans come with a complimentary SSL certificate from Let’s Encrypt, along with unlimited sites, POP/IMAP email accounts, bandwidth, FTP accounts, and MySQL 8 databases.
Their VPS plans allow users to craft their own servers using the 'RU NVME Constructor', a tool enabling you to select your preferred CPU power, RAM, and disk space. Alternatively, users can opt for pre-packaged plans such as the RU NVME 20 plan (their VPS entry-level plan), featuring 1x 2.5 GHz CPU, 2GB RAM, and 20GB of NVMe disk space, or the 'RU NVME 100' plan (their VPS top-tier plan), boasting 6x 2.5 GHz CPUs, 8GB RAM, and 100GB of NVMe disk space. Additionally, users have the choice between NVMe drives or standard SSD drives, which are a bit more economical, and the option to host their servers in Russia, Moldova, Israel, the USA, or the Netherlands.
Website Builder
WebHost1 includes the Site Pro website builder free of charge on all their SSD hosting plans. This builder comes with over 190 professional-looking and fully responsive templates that can be easily edited to match your desired look. It includes a wide range of elements, such as feedback forms, photo galleries, videos, shopping carts, payment portals, social networking buttons, and much more. There is also no limit on the amount of websites you want to build.
Security
Besides a network firewall and free SSL certificates by Let's Encrypt (with paid options from GlobalSign also available), they offer DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) protection against TCP/SYN/UDP/DNS/ICMP/HTTP attacks, along with some undisclosed security measures primarily aimed at safeguarding their infrastructure. However, beyond these features, users are largely left to fend for themselves and must install their own protective measures. Alternatively, users can opt to purchase BitNinja for an additional monthly fee, which serves as a defense against port scanning, password brute force hacking, SQL injection, DOS attacks, CMS hacking, Spam, XSS attacks, malicious infections, and more. Personally, I would have preferred to see basic features like Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam software included at no extra cost.
OS
Their Shared Hosting plans operate on CentOS, a commonly utilized platform in the hosting industry. For VPS plans, users can select from CentOS 8 Stream, Debian 11, FreeBSD 13, Ubuntu 20.04, or Windows Server. As mentioned earlier in this review, you do get full root access on VPS plans, so you can install any OS of your choice from an ISO image.
Support
Their support is top-notch, going the extra mile to assist users. Friendly and well-trained technical agents can be reached via Phone, a Ticketing System, Live Chat, Email, Telegram, and VKontakte, a Russian social media platform that reminds me of Facebook. Response times are impressive, with ticket responses typically within a few minutes, email responses within an hour, and live chat replies almost instantaneous.

WebHost1 is a solid option whether you're just starting out or you've been around the block in web hosting. They've got a good track record for uptime, their plans are reasonably priced, and they use top-notch hardware. It would be nice if they beefed up their security features, but you can always add that on if you need to. All in all, a good choice.
