I am a website designer and developer for over 7 years now, and I worked with several hosting companies in the past for each website project I handle.
First impression
Exigent Australia provides hosting, reseller hosting, Virtual Private Servers (VPS), dedicated servers, colocation, backups, email, domain registration, and SSL certificates among other services. It has three data centers located in Australia and its website is in English. Exigent Australia provides a free cloud web hosting service that our local communities, not-for-profit groups, charities and organisations need to create their online presence.
Based in Brisbane, Australia, Fluccs (which powers exigent.com.au) provides a full suite of web services with a specific focus on managed cloud computing and the provision of infrastructure as a service (IaaS).
Exigent gives its clients an option to choose which of its data centers they’d like to use to host their website. Its server locations are all in Australia – Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.
Trial period
Exigent Australia provides a free cloud web hosting service that the local communities, not-for-profit groups, charities and organisations need to create their online presence.
As part of the eligibility to be apart of their free cloud web hosting service, the not-for-profit group or charity must be registered with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) as a not-for-profit organisation.
Billing cycle
Its billing cycles are monthly, quarterly, semiannual, annual, and biennial. Payments can be made using BPAY, credit/debit cards, and PayPal.
The prices of its paid plans are slightly expensive, but still affordable with the Business plans being more expensive than the Economy plans. These paid plans come with free cPanel migration from another provider to Exigent’s servers.
Control panel
The company provides cPanel control panel, which helps you manage databases, setup emails, and carry out any other management or administrative function of your hosting account. Through the control panel, you can use an automatic installer – Softaculous -for applications such as WordPress, Joomla, OpenCart, and other scripts. It handles the installation in just a few minutes.
Exigent’s hosting plans are designed in such a way that from a range of figures, you can pick the exact amount of disk space, bandwidth, IP addresses, and parked domains that you require. Its features include:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee;
- Free SSL certificates;
- Daily automatic backups;
- From 1GB to 100GB disk space;
- From 100GB to 1000GB bandwidth.
Limits
Exigent has three sets of shared hosting plans: Community, Business, and Economy hosting. While the Business and Economy hosting are paid plans, the Community hosting plans are completely free hosting services for non-profit groups, charities, and local communities.
Its shared plan is built on RAID 10 SSD storage. SSD provides better performance than hard disks, which along with RAID 10, provides a better hosting experience. Your website data isn’t lost in case of the failure of a drive because it is stored in more than one drive. So, in case of failure of one drive, the other will come in handy. As you can set your own hosting server features and limits by dragging the bar feature.
Security
An SSL certificate protects the private information you collect from your customers such as credit card details, passwords, and logins. It is an easy and cost-effective way to legitimise your website whilst protecting your site against phishing, and boosting your search engine ranking.
PositiveSSL offers basic protection, but for those of you needing better protection, you can take a look at our SSL certificate comparison chart and choose one to suit your business and your customers.
OS
Exigent’s hosting resources are set up on servers that use CloudLinux OS, which is very efficient and stable for shared servers. It helps to confine each user on a shared plan to their own environment such that the resource usage of one user doesn’t affect another user’s account.
Support
Exigent offers a comprehensive support system comprising live chat, phone, email, ticketing system, and a help center with frequently asked questions and tutorials. When I emailed customer support, I received a response within just a few minutes.

FAQ:
✅What's a wildcard SSL certificate?
The wildcard applies to the PositiveSSL DV, Domain, and Organisation SSL certificates. The certificates are issued for the domain name specified in the initial application. If you buy a wildcard with one of these three certificates, it means that the common name specified is *.yourdomainname.com. You can then use the certificate on an unlimited number of subdomains and servers. You also have the option to add in the future.
If you need to secure multiple subdomains on a single domain name, you can buy a wildcard. For a wildcard SSL certificate, a common name of *.yourdomainname.com would secure www.yourdomainname.com, mail.yourdomainname.com, secure.yourdomainname.com, etc.
🔶What is Elastic Cloud?
Their Elastic Cloud will let you provision your very own cloud servers through their Cloud Portal using the resources from your Elastic Cloud.
With their Elastic Cloud, you will be able to manage your servers resources by increasing or decreasing them and those changes are applied within just seconds.
Each Cloud Server can be provisioned on any one of their servers within their server farm.
