Editor's opinion
Lorienz Galarpe
I am a website designer and developer for over 7 years now, and I worked with several hosting companies in the past for each website project I handle.
First impression
Web.com becomes a much more appealing option if you're looking to quickly create a site or online store. The web hosting portion remains a mixed bag, but the service is counterbalanced by good shared hosting plans, strong phone support, numerous themes, and excellent uptime.
Featuring hundreds of templates and customizable layouts, Web.com has what you need to get a unique, professional site. Thousands of stock images are also at your disposal, so you’ll have no trouble standing out from the crowd.
Web.com’s editor is very similar to others that we’ve tested. It uses a limited drop-and-drag format, which means you can select the components you want, and drag them where you’d like them. This makes it super easy for you to make changes to your template.
Everything you’ll need can be found in the intuitive left-hand sidebar. All you need to do is select and drag! And if you need to change the color scheme, upload new images, or add your own text? Everything can be done with just a few clicks.
Also, it is very easy to register for an account on their website, just choose a service you want and purchase, fill up your account details and they will automatically create your personal account for you and send you your login credentials.
Trial period
Web.com does not offer a free trial on their services but they do offer a 30-Days Money Back guaranteed. Web.com may not be perfect, but it is true to its word and will give you a full refund when you cancel your account. The process will be completely hassle-free.
Billing cycle
All plans and products will automatically renew at the current rate to the payment method on file unless you cancel.
You can choose 2 billing cycle options on their hosting services, Yearly and 3 Years subscription. Also you will get a free Domain name and a free website builder tool.
Control panel
Web.com has a popular web-based control panel used to administer and/or manage your web site. All the facets in controlling your web site are available in CPanel like file management, logs, databases, email and so on.
It’s very easy to access the cPanel, just login to your client dashboard and navigate to the hosting service you purchased and click on Login to cPanel button, you will then redirected to the cPanel dashboard.
To install wordpress you will see the Cpanel dashboard, locate the text box that reads, “Find functions quickly by typing here:” Just enter the name ‘Softaculous’. The script installer will be displayed below together with all apps that it supports. Click ‘WordPress’ and proceed. The tool will automatically install the latest version of Wordpress.
Limits
Just like any other web hosting providers, Web.com has their limits too on their specific hosting service plans.
Basic Plan - Can only host 1 website, up to 10GB web storage, 15k monthly visitors, and up to 25 FTP accounts.
While on their Premium Plan - you can host up to 10 websites, up to 40GB web storage, 200k monthly visitors, and Unlimited FTP accounts.
Security
Web.com offers various options on security features, they offer Free SSL certificates on most of their hosting services and Cyber Security solutions on mobile devices.
Also on website platforms, they do offer Sitelock Security which protects your site from threats online. Your site could be at risk for malware, hacking, spam, and more. If search engines detect malware on your site, they may blacklist you, which will damage your search engine rank and reputation. That's where SiteLock Security comes in.
Pricing starts from $6.99.month up to $24.99/month.
OS
Just like any other web hosting providers, Web.com services offer Linux, Windows, and MAC operating service on their servers.
Support
Web.com offers a few ways to get in touch if you get stuck, such as email, live chat, and phone support. In our opinion, the best option out of the three is the 24/7 phone line (1-866-655-7679, free with all plans).
The live chat tool is super useful, too — especially if you’re not keen on speaking to people over the phone. However, sometimes the answers can be slightly vague compared to the support you receive if you just speak to someone directly. It only takes half a minute for the live chat support to be available and they are very responsive and knowledgeable.
If you’d rather a third option, you can raise a support ticket, but when we tried this, we hit a brick wall when the system asked us to log in with a ‘Secret Word’.

Thanks to its recently updated editor, Web.com now sits firmly in the middle of our website builder rankings. This means that it’s a good option if you’re looking for a straightforward platform to build a basic website. It comes with all the necessary features to create a simple business website, or small ecommerce store.
As a traditional web hosting service, Web.com left a lot to be desired. But as a website builder with hosting plans, Web.com is an attractive offering. Certain editing options could be stronger, but we easily recommend Web.com to anyone looking for accessible intuitive tools to quickly build a website.
FAQ:
✔️What programming languages are available in the hosting packages?
They offer a wide variety of programming languages from Ruby and Python to PHP5 and Perl. Regardless of how you want to run your small business, their hosting packages will work for your website.
❔What are the differences between web hosting companies?
When it comes to hosting, remember to focus on services provided instead of just cost. If you choose a cheap option that provides no support or maintenance assistance, you’ll just end up frazzled and confused whenever there’s an issue. Find a provider at an affordable cost, who has plenty of services provided, and quality customer service. You want to know your hosting provider won’t suddenly disappear or go out of business, and you need to feel confident they provide exceptional customer service.
You have many small-business web hosting options, ranging from purchasing your own server to reserving a dedicated server for your site in someone else’s data center. The right choice for you depends on your site’s traffic levels, your IT "savviness", and your tech support needs.
❇️Is Sitelock worth it?
Yes, SiteLock is definitely worth it. Website security is extremely important in today's digital landscape. Without SiteLock, your website is at a much higher risk for security threats, and you would need a fair amount of technical knowledge and constant vigilance to keep your site secure.
