Lorienz Galarpe
I am a website designer and developer for over 7 years now, and I worked with several hosting companies in the past for each website project I handle.
First impression
This is a hosting company that is based in Russia. They claim on their website to be, ‘one of the top 10 Russian hosting providers’ which may or may not give you confidence in them. The company has been in business since 2004 and they offer a wide range of different hosting services including shared, VPS, dedicated and more. They also have software licensing, domain registration and more. The company’s website has a somewhat outdated look and feel to it but it is functional and you can get around without a problem.
Mchost provides CMS hosting, shared hosting, and VPS solutions to its clients from more than 1,000 Dell servers that are located in Russia and the Netherlands. Its offices and support team are in Russia.
McHost takes automatic backups every two days and stores five random copies of those that were taken over two weeks. The random backups are chosen based on selective dates when changes were made to your website. This ensures that significant changes are not lost.

Backup at Mchost is a service for creating backup copies of a website on a special backup server and backups may be required in different cases.
Trial period
Get a month free when switching from another provider! They will transfer your websites for free and give you the first month of hosting on the chosen hosting service. Just register and submit a support request.
Billing cycle
The pricing for shared hosting starts at $42.24 per year and goes up from there. You can switch to monthly payments once you get to higher level hosting packages. This pricing is right in line with what you would expect to pay for the level of service you are getting. As you move up in hosting power your price will go up but it does stay right in line with industry averages.
You can choose Monthly or Yearly billing option when buying their hosting services.
Control panel
McHost doesn’t use cPanel. Instead, it offers its own custom control panel. From there, you can complete one-click installation of common CMSes like WordPress and Joomla!. If you don’t want to deal with the installation of your CMS at all, you can take a CMS plan.
Limits
You can buy hosting for a website with a ready-made configuration or with an individual choice of the number of computing resources. The amount of RAM and CPU computing capabilities that the user rents from a hosting provider for the website, processing its operations and ensuring its performance. The type of service for providing server resources is determined according to the needs of the project. An option for small, simple and non-resource-intensive projects is virtual hosting.
Mak-3 Hosting Plan can host 1 website, store up to 3GB SSD, and 1 database.
The highest plan which is Mak-30 cost 853/month can host up to 40 websites, store up to 30GB SSD, and up to 40 databases.
Security
Your websites will be 100% secure with an SSL certificate.
An SSL certificate is a unique digital signature of a site, which ensures the exchange of data between the site and visitors’ computers using the secure HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) protocol. The SSL certificate itself of an online store or any other commercial site guarantees the security of financial transactions and the transfer of confidential information. For this reason, it is a significant factor in ranking a site in search engines and ensures the growth of the number of your customers.
OS
Mchost employs SSD technology, resulting in enhanced performance. To bolster this, they have implemented CloudLinux and CageFS on the shared servers, thereby enhancing both security and performance for every customer.
VPS/VDS on Linux OS is a type of hosting in which a regular physical server is divided into several virtual parts and rented out.
Support
The tech teams are available 24/7 including holidays. They say that they respond to all support requests within 10 minutes, which is very impressive. They also make it clear that their tech teams speak Russian so that is something you’ll definitely want to know, whether it is a good thing or bad. Looking at social media and other pages it seems people are quite happy with the level of support they got from McHost.
McHost offers 24/7 support through email, phone, and live chat. I asked some questions via live chat, and despite the website being in Russian only, the support agent replied in English with relevant answers.

If you’re looking for a Russian-based web host, McHost might be the one for you. It offers reasonably priced hosting solutions, but keep in mind that you’ll be paying for your domain and SSL out of your pocket from the first year. The hosting is really quite nice. They are clearly targeting a Russian audience with Russian tech support and things like that. This is obviously a good thing for those who speak the language, but it will be a challenge for those who don’t so keep that in mind.
