I am a full-time web developer & IT professional with more than 18 years experience. I have been working with numerous hosting companies over the years.
First impression
Interserver was founded on 1 April 1999 in New Jersey USA, by Michael Lavrik and John Quaglieri, and has been evolving the hosting game ever since. These two ambitious, tech-savvy high-school students at the time, shared a dream of offering data services at affordable prices, while still maintaining a high level of service and support. Fast forward to 2023, and they now own and operate two data centers located in Secaucus, NJ, and Los Angeles, CA. respectively, from where they serve their ever-growing customer base, ranging from individual freelancers to Fortune 500 companies, both domestically and abroad.
InterServer, a self-proclaimed budget-friendly provider, offers services, such as Shared Hosting (which they offer free of charge to non-profit organizations and free for students in their first year of signing up), Cloud VPS, Dedicated Servers, and Colocation Hosting. Their partnership with Cloudflare (Content Delivery Network) ensures blazing-fast content delivery time and they also boast an impressive 99.9% uptime guarantee.
Trial Period
Signing up with Interserver comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Simply request a full refund within the first 30 days of your purchase, and they will issue a refund, no questions asked.
Billing Cycle
Interserver plans are very well priced, even more so, their renewal costs, and normally run on a month-to-month basis, although users can benefit from discounted rates should they sign-up for a year-long commitment.
They offer various payment methods depending on where you are based in the world, with the most notable being PayPal, MasterCard, Visa, and American Express. Interserver has recently added crypto as a new checkout payment option, users can now pay them in cryptocurrency via the Coinbase gateway.
Control Panel
Interserver offers cPanel, Plesk, and DirectAdmin as control panels, and supports Centos, Debian, FreeBSD, and Ubuntu.
Limits
Their Shared Hosting is affordable, and straightforward, and features unlimited ultra SSD storage space, unlimited emails, free website migration, and 450+ Cloud Apps.
When it comes to Interserver VPS offerings (Linux VPS, Storage VPS, and Windows VPS), there are various options to choose from, the entry-level plan starts with 1 Core CPU, 2GB RAM, and 30GB SSD storage space, whilst their flagship plan comes bundled with 16 Core CPUs, 32GB RAM, and 480GB SSD space. These servers also come with "self-healing hardware", in short, their A.I. system will detect any glitch on the hardware system, then instead of affecting your website performance, it automatically redirects it to another node. It all happens with lightning-fast speed.
Although not free, a remote VPS backup service is available at an affordable monthly cost, to keep your data safe and secure.
Security
Interserver hosting plans come with a real-time malware scanner called Imunify360 as well as a CSF Firewall, It's an advanced configuration script that provides a robust and easy-to-use firewall for Linux servers, designed to provide better security to the server by controlling and monitoring incoming and outgoing network traffic. CSF also allows you to configure various security features, such as SSH access control, DoS protection, brute force detection, and more, through an easy-to-use interface. There is also Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) as an extra security layer on cPanel accounts, as well as free weekly backups on Shared Hosting (the backups are stored on a remote server for added security).
All their hosting plans come with a free SSL certificate, either through Let's Encrypt or AutoSLL.
OS
Their Shared Hosting comes with the option to choose between CloudLinux or Windows ASP.net. The same applies to their VPS hosting, where users can choose between running on Linux or Windows.
Support
Interserver support comes in the form of live chat, phone, email ticketing, or facebook chat. Their dedicated and knowledgeable support team is available around the clock to help with any issues you may encounter.
In my opinion, their online chat isn't as quick to respond as some of their competitors, nor as enthusiastic, but they will get your issues sorted out, and at the end of the day that is all that matters.
Conclusion

Interserver offers flexible hosting plans that are both reliable and affordable. They have a strong focus on performance and security but somewhat lack a personal touch when it comes to customer support, although they have the knowledge to sort your issues out in no time. Interserver is a good choice for businesses and newbies alike.
