First impression
GoDaddy is a web host and domain provider that offers multiple website plans and features. One of the largest domain-hosting companies, GoDaddy also provides multiple add-on services and 24/7 customer support.
GoDaddy started back in 1997 when founder Bob Parsons decided to found a company. He wanted the name “Big Daddy,” but found the domain was taken, so opted for GoDaddy instead.
GoDaddy is a web host and domain registrar. It offers affordable introductory rates and some free features in the first year. Many of its features come with extra costs that can add up quickly.
It’s just very easy to register and manage your account at Godaddy, just click the register button on the top menu or simply purchase any of their services and you'll be redirected to the cart page and automatically generate your account for you ofcourse after you provide your email address.
Also they do have a user friendly account dashboard and are easy to manage with. You can add services, manage client accounts, add websites etc.
Trial period
As of now Godaddy does not offer a free trial on any of their services but they do have a 60 Days Money Back Guaranteed. They are 100% dedicated to providing the very best in Web Hosting and stand by in their commitment with a 60 day Money Back Guarantee.
Billing cycle
GoDaddy offers introductory promotional prices, but you’ll have to pay the regular price when your account renews. Also, although the prices are listed by month, GoDaddy charges annually. The promotional and standard costs are:
- Starter: $4.99 a month, then $4.99 a month on renewal;
- Economy: $6.99 a month, then $9.99 a month on renewal;
- Deluxe: $9.99 a month, then $13.99 a month on renewal;
- Ultimate: $14.99 a month, then $17.99 a month on renewal.
Each plan also offers a free domain for your first term. The Ultimate and Maximum plans include a free SSL certificate.
Control panel
In addition to the native interface, GoDaddy still remains faithful to cPanel for more advanced website management tasks. It uses the standard version of it, so you can easily find all the main management modules – file manager, email accounts, domains, software, and databases.
Setting up GoDaddy is simple whether you choose to go with the site builder option or you want the classic cPanel dashboard. Assuming you opt for shared hosting on a Linux server, just fill out a form when prompted with a username and password and GoDaddy will set up WordPress for you (it’s the CMS the web host suggests).
Limits
The economy plan from GoDaddy is more generous than even some of the best hosting services—25GB goes quickly, though. You can upgrade to one of the higher-priced tiers for 50GB, 75GB or 100GB, respectively.
Along with some web hosts today, GoDaddy doesn’t label its bandwidth allowance as “unlimited,” rather it’s unmetered. This means that it isn’t going to monitor how much data transfer you’re using unless it becomes a problem for others on the same server as your website. If you do use more than what GoDaddy deems appropriate for your plan level, it may request you upgrade your service or the company could suspend your website.
Website Builder
Goddady offers a free Website Builder tool, their Website Builder's designer-made templates make it easy to create the site you've always wanted in minutes, while built-in marketing tools help your business get found in all the right places.
Their website builder tools are also very much easy to navigate, just a drag and drop option you can now build your very own web page design layout or simply use a pre-built theme.
Security
GoDaddy includes a few security features for your website in its web hosting plans, but they’re minimal. You get a basic SSL certificate for free for the first year, daily backups and GoDaddy provides network security for its own servers (24/7 monitoring), but if you want more security, you’ll have to pay.
There are three site security plans that include tools such as malware scan, backup recovery, site cleanups and a web application firewall. These range in price from $6.99 per month to $19.99 per month, with a two-year contract (renewal costs $9.99 per month to $29.99 per month).
OS
Their hosting services offer Linux, Windows, and MAC operating service servers.
Support
If you bump into a problem or want to get an answer to your question, you can get help in GoDaddy in four different ways:
- Live chat support. If you want to get in touch with an agent via the live chat, you’ll have to enable Support Cookies and feedback tools. Then, the system will connect you with the chatbot, and if it doesn’t help – you can get in touch with an agent within a few minutes.
- Phone support. GoDaddy focuses on delivering excellent customer service via their 24/7 phone line. The website has a list of 47 countries with contact numbers to reach the customer service via the phone. The call doesn’t cost you anything, unless you call to/from a different country.
- Help center. GoDaddy comes with a comprehensive help center that includes guides, how-tos, videos, to help all the questions that may arise if you decide to host with this provider. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, GoDaddy refers to calling their award-winning support.
Their live chat support agent is very responsive and knowledgeable. GoDaddy mentions its award-winning customer support several times across the website, therefore, we’ve tested it out to see if it’s true.
Conclusion
GoDaddy is a reliable and affordable web hosting service that offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee, a no-hassle money-back guarantee and lots of free extras with all hosting plans.
Pros | Cons |
|
|
GoDaddy is one of the most commonly used web hosts and domain registrars in the industry. That said, the company has mixed customer reviews — many don’t appreciate its high renewal fees, and GoDaddy charges extra for several features other hosts offer at no cost. If you’re looking for a web host and domain registrar, make sure to shop around before committing.
FAQ:
❔What is GoDaddy used for?
GoDaddy is mostly used for domain registration and management services. It also has a big choice of web hosting plans, a website builder, and several built-in marketing tools. To sum this up, GoDaddy is a giant in the online services market and is used for building an online presence.
✅Can I get a free domain with GoDaddy?
Yes, you can get a free domain with GoDaddy when you are purchasing web hosting or website builder services. A free domain is included in all of their plans. You can pick from .com, .biz, .club, co.uk, .net, .org, .co, .info, .rocks, .spce, and other popular top-level domains.
✴️Is GoDaddy safe?
GoDaddy ensures basic security only. It provides you with protection from fraud, viruses, and spam. However, it lacks advanced measures, such as DDoS protection and a regular site backups option. Considering that such hosting providers as Hostinger include all of these features with its plans, GoDaddy could use an upgrade in terms of security.

As a registrar they are fine though by no means the cheapest and you can find much better offers available from many other registrars, Godaddy also have it set so the best price offer is only available when you register for 2 years or more.
As a webhost i found them to be lacking in several areas, page speeds seem very slow, access to admin section and cpanels also often very slow. I was using shared hosting and VPS services, so can not comment on dedicated servers.
The admin sections are nicely laid out and are easy to use. They also have a very large support team and you can actually speak to a human being on the phone if you require to.
Overall i would avoid Godaddy
I am using GoDaddy since 2016. I heard a lot about them. My experience with Godaddy is slow speed, Lack of Support (No 24/7), Downtime.
It's Good for Domains only but I prefer namecheap.com for domain registrations because of the unreliability of Godaddy.
Now recently I bought managed WordPress hosting plan with them and it seems the speed is not too good as compared to other companies but rest all good. Customer support is great whether on-call or on chat, pricing is very competitive and all good. Overall I am happy with them.
Second, the uptime of servers is not super. The speed of access varied greatly, sometimes it took several hours to download a file of 50 MB in size.
And the most important thing is support. That answer takes enough long, when site is unavailable or control panel not worked, there is often no responding.
The only problems I've had are with pricing and speed. GoDaddy is on the more expensive side, compared to other popular options like Bluehost. Sometimes, I've also had some of my CMS websites run a little slow.
Other than that, it's been a great option to use and I still use it to host my personal blog / website and my other start-up landing pages.
Great to have a domains on an excellent prices and they have a wide variety of services available.
As pros are the free domain with one year hosting or more, prices of the domains, great control panel with a lot of 1 click options, lot of different Linux or/and Windows based plans as well as WordPress PRO packedges.
As cons - the speed is a bit slow, too many instances of upsell and due to that the checkout proccess could be complicated for most of the users, live chat support is not available 24/7.
I can identify the benefits of GoDaddy below -
#FullPosted, that I am interested in purchasing my domain and email service separately from web hosting. However, a company like WordPress Self-Installing can handle things a bit easier by managing my domain name, email and, hosting. GoDaddy offers a complete suite of services and can integrate them well.
# Their Economy plan is $ 6.99 / month with a 12-month lock-in - but they always offer coupons for lock-ins, and I can even drop it at $ 4.99 / mo. I'm not worried about paying more for Godaddy.
#GoDaddy support is really good and after connecting with the support I had to wait a short time.
# They pride themselves on hosting 4GH Linux ... that means they are with the current era. PHP 5 etc - GoDaddy has all the latest technical stuff to do right web hosting.
# This feature is related to their huge scale of "spam and hackers are too tech-savvy", but from Godaddy's prohibited policies (which would be a con), it also maintains spam and attacks.
I think Godaddy has some cons-
# There are other web hosts that do not do that to the extent that Godaddy does. And using it means I can't put a bunch of websites on a hosting account. A WordPress blog/website requires 1 database - so on the Deluxe Plan, I am limited, to 25 websites.
# Yes, it sounds technical - but I get more in-depth with my WordPress site, more about the hosting panel. Basically, when I log into my hosting account via the web or FTP - I have a menu of options for managing my website. Another problem is that GoDaddy uses its own custom panel.
# There is a recovery or restore fee.
# No live chat support.
# GoDaddy's internal server speed is not always the best I expected.
However, Godaddy web hosting does not stack up overall, contrary to my recommendation. GoDaddy Hosting is tough and cheap web hosting.
There is a ton of things I don't like about Godaddy hosting:
- The first thing I would say that navigating trough their control panel feels slow and the design is not user-friendly at all.
- Making some big changes takes time to process in comparison to other hostings where you can implement the changes right away.
- Speed on sites seems below average. I think this is because they put too many plans on one physical server
- Support is slow and you have to wait in line a lot more time in comparison to other hostings ( Siteground, Bluehost etc )
Pros:
- Good Uptime
I have also heard rumors that they sell your personal info ( phone, email ) and you get blasted from marketing companies trying to sell you services such as ( website building, brand creation etc ). I cannot confirm on this because i haven't experienced it myself but google it and you will see.
First thing i want to point out, the customer support.
The staff is ready and available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and they typically respond very quickly. They are very patient and eager to talk you through any issues you may have.
On the negative side, like many other hosting providers, the initial domain registration is cheap with a SIGNIFICANT increase on renewal.
They will charge you a lot for everything from migrations, to backups, SSL certificates, and pretty much anything else you’d need. Their wordpress hosting is also super slow and based on this, i would not recommend GoDaddy.
Speed is under industry media, reliability is not that great, and support is also not the top of the market - but is above the media. If you have a bigger business to support, an active website - especially with special needs - then you better go to find something else. So, can't be wholeheartedly recommended - but definitively there are businesses who can find the offering appealing.
Price and quality are at normal levels.
I only recommend buying domains from them because the prices are very low and cheap compared to the others.
The biggest drawback to this great hosting is the speed, very slow loading of slightly larger sites and images.
In terms of support from 1 to 5 I would rate it as 2+, no better than OVH Hosting.
To really make problems worse, the phone support staff are unknowledgable about common questions. In other cases the support staff gave me incorrect information, thus is required multiple calls to get a problem fully resolved. Each time it took over 30 minutes to actually get to a human to discuss the problem. I swore off GoDaddy due to the support staff.
It is not worth the price in my opinion. The websites are slow, unexpectedly go down, and the backend is clunky.
They're expensive, slow, change their UI too frequently, and their support is sub-par.
They may be big, but they're not all they advertise to be.
Finally, never let a domain expire on GoDaddy because they start selling it as premium after its 15days of extension.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend them. There are more reliable and VFM web hosting services out there.
We highly recommend not to purchase the cheapest hosting package. Usually, they come with a row of issues: the server is often down, the hardware is outdated, lousy and slow support, registration and payment errors, etc.
For your convenience, we have created a tool that can help you to choose the right hosting package for you just by answering a few simple questions.
CMS is a content management system. A lot of hosting providers offer so-called CMS optimized packages. However, this is a marketing trick because most CMSs do not have special software or hosting requirements.
Trial period is a period of time, usually from 7 to 30 days, during which you can use the hosting services for free to test them.
Moneyback policy allows the customer to receive a refund for his order within a certain period after the purchase.
OS means the operating system is installed on the server. We recommend to choose Linux hosting unless your website requires another OS.
Bulletproof hosting - it’s a type of service that allows to host almost any type of content, even the restricted one (adult content, warez, spam etc). Bulletproof hosting providers do not remove your content in case someone reports an abuse.
Unlimited hosting - refers to companies that provide packages with unlimited disk space, bandwidth, number of domains, databases or email accounts, etc. This is usually a marketing trick but sometimes you can find something worth a try.
Secure hosting - it’s a type of service when the hosting provider is mostly responsible for the security of the user’s account: updates the software installed on their servers, provides an antivirus and malware scanner, firewalls and basic anti-DDoS protection, etc.
DDoS-protected hosting - companies that provide packages that include anti-DDoS protection. These packages are considerably more expensive than regular ones. Nevertheless, they’re totally worth their price because the company will ensure that your website is secured from cyber attacks.
Most websites require MySQL and PHP installed on the server to work correctly. Almost all hosting providers support these technologies.
ASP.NET is a Microsoft web application development platform.
The more comfortable the control panel is, the easier will it be for you to change the website and hosting account settings.
Most hosting providers that are in TOP20 in our rating offer user-friendly control panels, such as cPanel, Plesk or DirectAdmin. That’s why we recommend to pay attention to other, more important parameters, while choosing a hosting provider.
