First impression
GoDaddy is a web host and domain provider that offers multiple website plans and features. One of the largest domain-hosting companies, GoDaddy also provides multiple add-on services and 24/7 customer support.
GoDaddy started back in 1997 when founder Bob Parsons decided to found a company. He wanted the name “Big Daddy,” but found the domain was taken, so opted for GoDaddy instead.
GoDaddy is a web host and domain registrar. It offers affordable introductory rates and some free features in the first year. Many of its features come with extra costs that can add up quickly.
It’s just very easy to register and manage your account at Godaddy, just click the register button on the top menu or simply purchase any of their services and you'll be redirected to the cart page and automatically generate your account for you ofcourse after you provide your email address.
Also they do have a user friendly account dashboard and are easy to manage with. You can add services, manage client accounts, add websites etc.
Trial period
As of now Godaddy does not offer a free trial on any of their services but they do have a 60 Days Money Back Guaranteed. They are 100% dedicated to providing the very best in Web Hosting and stand by in their commitment with a 60 day Money Back Guarantee.
Billing cycle
GoDaddy offers introductory promotional prices, but you’ll have to pay the regular price when your account renews. Also, although the prices are listed by month, GoDaddy charges annually. The promotional and standard costs are:
- Starter: $4.99 a month, then $4.99 a month on renewal;
- Economy: $6.99 a month, then $9.99 a month on renewal;
- Deluxe: $9.99 a month, then $13.99 a month on renewal;
- Ultimate: $14.99 a month, then $17.99 a month on renewal.
Each plan also offers a free domain for your first term. The Ultimate and Maximum plans include a free SSL certificate.
Control panel
In addition to the native interface, GoDaddy still remains faithful to cPanel for more advanced website management tasks. It uses the standard version of it, so you can easily find all the main management modules – file manager, email accounts, domains, software, and databases.
Setting up GoDaddy is simple whether you choose to go with the site builder option or you want the classic cPanel dashboard. Assuming you opt for shared hosting on a Linux server, just fill out a form when prompted with a username and password and GoDaddy will set up WordPress for you (it’s the CMS the web host suggests).
Limits
The economy plan from GoDaddy is more generous than even some of the best hosting services—25GB goes quickly, though. You can upgrade to one of the higher-priced tiers for 50GB, 75GB or 100GB, respectively.
Along with some web hosts today, GoDaddy doesn’t label its bandwidth allowance as “unlimited,” rather it’s unmetered. This means that it isn’t going to monitor how much data transfer you’re using unless it becomes a problem for others on the same server as your website. If you do use more than what GoDaddy deems appropriate for your plan level, it may request you upgrade your service or the company could suspend your website.
Website Builder
Goddady offers a free Website Builder tool, their Website Builder's designer-made templates make it easy to create the site you've always wanted in minutes, while built-in marketing tools help your business get found in all the right places.
Their website builder tools are also very much easy to navigate, just a drag and drop option you can now build your very own web page design layout or simply use a pre-built theme.
Security
GoDaddy includes a few security features for your website in its web hosting plans, but they’re minimal. You get a basic SSL certificate for free for the first year, daily backups and GoDaddy provides network security for its own servers (24/7 monitoring), but if you want more security, you’ll have to pay.
There are three site security plans that include tools such as malware scan, backup recovery, site cleanups and a web application firewall. These range in price from $6.99 per month to $19.99 per month, with a two-year contract (renewal costs $9.99 per month to $29.99 per month).
OS
Their hosting services offer Linux, Windows, and MAC operating service servers.
Support
If you bump into a problem or want to get an answer to your question, you can get help in GoDaddy in four different ways:
- Live chat support. If you want to get in touch with an agent via the live chat, you’ll have to enable Support Cookies and feedback tools. Then, the system will connect you with the chatbot, and if it doesn’t help – you can get in touch with an agent within a few minutes.
- Phone support. GoDaddy focuses on delivering excellent customer service via their 24/7 phone line. The website has a list of 47 countries with contact numbers to reach the customer service via the phone. The call doesn’t cost you anything, unless you call to/from a different country.
- Help center. GoDaddy comes with a comprehensive help center that includes guides, how-tos, videos, to help all the questions that may arise if you decide to host with this provider. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, GoDaddy refers to calling their award-winning support.
Their live chat support agent is very responsive and knowledgeable. GoDaddy mentions its award-winning customer support several times across the website, therefore, we’ve tested it out to see if it’s true.
Conclusion
GoDaddy is a reliable and affordable web hosting service that offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee, a no-hassle money-back guarantee and lots of free extras with all hosting plans.
Pros | Cons |
|
|
GoDaddy is one of the most commonly used web hosts and domain registrars in the industry. That said, the company has mixed customer reviews — many don’t appreciate its high renewal fees, and GoDaddy charges extra for several features other hosts offer at no cost. If you’re looking for a web host and domain registrar, make sure to shop around before committing.
FAQ:
❔What is GoDaddy used for?
GoDaddy is mostly used for domain registration and management services. It also has a big choice of web hosting plans, a website builder, and several built-in marketing tools. To sum this up, GoDaddy is a giant in the online services market and is used for building an online presence.
✅Can I get a free domain with GoDaddy?
Yes, you can get a free domain with GoDaddy when you are purchasing web hosting or website builder services. A free domain is included in all of their plans. You can pick from .com, .biz, .club, co.uk, .net, .org, .co, .info, .rocks, .spce, and other popular top-level domains.
✴️Is GoDaddy safe?
GoDaddy ensures basic security only. It provides you with protection from fraud, viruses, and spam. However, it lacks advanced measures, such as DDoS protection and a regular site backups option. Considering that such hosting providers as Hostinger include all of these features with its plans, GoDaddy could use an upgrade in terms of security.

Why wasn't there an auction?? If there is more than one person who wants to buy this domain, there has to be an auction!!! And there wasn't!!
One-time payment is treated like a subscription, and money is debited from the customer for the renewal services, (which aren't used). Getting a refund is impossible and it's almost impossible to unsubscribe when it's beed renewed.
The control panel is very stupid. Each function must be reached by multiple clicks.
There is no Tech Support if you would know it - hosting does not have support by e-mail (!!!)
You can only contact them via the phone number, and you have to wait for at least 10 minutes to respond. To call them till they answer is unreal!
I purchased "Managed Wordpress Hosting" and an SSL certificate last summer. When we started to build the site, we couldn't figure out why both the front and back ends were so painfully slow. I spent so much money in wasted developer time.
I finally called GoDaddy and they told me the problem was the size of my site and what I needed was the 2 year, $500+ security package because it speeds sites up. When that didn't even touch the problem, I called back and they told me I needed $100 worth of support tickets so they could TRY to find the problem. That brought back a list of "problems" that I paid a developer even more money to "fix".
When that didn't fix the problem, another developer told me the real issue: GODADDY SERVERS SUCK. So out of desperation, I (paid even more money and) finally switched to AWS.
VOILA! Problem fixed! My site pages load, front and back end are super fast and problem free. When I told GoDaddy this and requested a PRORATED refund, what was I told? I'm "outside the refund window". UM DUH. I'm outside the refund window because they kept upselling me "fixes" to a problem they created! I’m literally out thousands of dollars and countless hours for their inability to provide me with a product according to their own contract, and their response is “Well, if you had called us sooner…” Apparently they don’t listen either.
They don't offer Let'sEncrypt free SSL cert, instead you have to purchase expensive certificate.
They also add and upsell you everything possible. They auto include most offers that you didn't want to order. And on top the renewal rates are pretty higher than the initial ones. As with domains when you first register domain, or purchase hosting plan you get a discounted price. But when you renew the products, they double or triple the price. Another con is that you'll have to wait forever for support and live chat. Overall I do not recommend this company.
I am using GoDaddy since 2016. I heard a lot about them. My experience with Godaddy is slow speed, Lack of Support (No 24/7), Downtime.
It's Good for Domains only but I prefer namecheap.com for domain registrations because of the unreliability of Godaddy.
There is no place to remove your card details for future transaction. If there, somewhere hidden.
I was so angry, Had to close my domain. They were least bothered. Domain is up for auction making sure this domain cannot be bought with other registrars.
Biggest scammers and fraudsters on planet.
Nope. That is the price of a basic plan, 100 GB of storage and unmetered bandwidth. They’re currently even throwing in a free domain name, free website builder and business email for the first year, too. Sound like a bundle...until you discover you have to pay extra for regular backups, SSL certificate and pretty much everything you need, which should be a part of even the most basic of web hosting packages in 2019. Google will seriously penalize you if you still go with the plain ol' HTTP instead of HTTPS (as it should, in my opinion), and can you even imagine running a complex WordPress site with lost of plugins without regular backup? GoDaddy will charge you for EVERYTHING, and as far as I've heard if won't go any mile, much less extra miles, to give you a refund for anything they overcharged.
User reviews for support go from "pretty good" to "non-existent".
Conclusion: GoDaddy is not my hosting of choice. There are a lot of better solutions out there.
Godaddy is not a good hosting company, we all know very well that they are a domain registrar and I agree the fact that they are good at it at least till now. I cannot trust their hosting services for sure due to following reasons.
1) Lack of CPanel Security, yes you hear it right. I have recovered more than 20 websites of my clients hosted on Godaddy based Linux hosting. All the websites were hacked and there is no Antivirus scanner inbuilt to scan the files and fix any possible malware. This is a bad news for business owners who accept reservations, bookings and any other forms through their websites which are hosted with Godaddy.
2) Still old CPanel software, we all know that CPanel updates its software regularly to fix bugs, optimize functionality, improve security, speed and add new features. When you purchase Godaddy hosting, you will be using a Cpanel version oldest than bluehost or hostgator or any other popular hosting providers you hear about on Google. I am not saying that those competitors offer latest CPanel, but they are far better than Godaddy.
3) No Free SSL Certificates. Last time when I checked Godaddy Cpanel, I could not find LetsEncrypt Free SSL Module available for customer to issue a SSL certificate to the domains hosted on particular account. This means you have to either buy it from Godaddy for yearly recurring price or you have to use third party shared SSL from cloudflare.
4) Pricing is the worst part, when you buy hosting for the first time they will offer your best price in the market, but when you renew the plans they charge hefty amounts which will recover their discounts previously offered while you purchased. The plans pricing does not justify for the hardware or software they are providing for the money you spend.
5) Customer support is worst, You will be connected to a non technical support person most of the time, who cannot fix any issue and thus wasting days and days to solve simple issue. Although they are available 24/7 and 365 days as they claim, their support persons are usually not helpful most of the time.
Google search is far better to resolve issues yourselves than contacting them. If you are a non technical customer your time will be burned reaching them for help without any issue resolution for days, weeks or even months.
I will not recommend Godaddy for Linux Web Hosting, whatever may be the plan they claim, stay away from them and be peaceful. Domains are also good only for the first term, pricing wise. For the second year move your domain to flat price domain registrar.
Note: Now a days they started to make it difficult for customers to use their DNS manager, by declining or denying to make DNS changes if you are using their web hosting and would like to switch hosting to new providers due to your own reasons. So bear in mind about this critical issue.
Second, the uptime of servers is not super. The speed of access varied greatly, sometimes it took several hours to download a file of 50 MB in size.
And the most important thing is support. That answer takes enough long, when site is unavailable or control panel not worked, there is often no responding.
First and biggest problem was that it took me 5 hours on their support webchat for one of their engineers to find an issue at their backend, as we were not able to point my clients registered domain(bought from Goddady) to their Plesk server(also bought from Goddday).
Then, it took over 2 days for changes to get propagated from their firewall end.
Their Plesk Windows server template is not properly pre-deployed and I had to make several security changes on the server to get rid of all warning messages that Plesk was notifying us about.
Price is acceptable compared if we would have to host this type of server on AWS with Plesk license, while their support and DNS management panel hugely disappointed us.
I mean, this has to be the biggest hosting provider and domain name registrar in the world, right?
Some time ago, I had a client that already had his hosting set up with GoDaddy. I had to make some website changes so the client shared their GD credentials.
The user area and control panel were user-friendly and easy-to-use, even from people with no previous hosting knowledge.
A couple of days later, the client calls me and asks why his website was down.
GoDaddy's support was very poor in handling the issue. It took me 20 minutes to help them understand what was going on and even then - they had no reasonable explanation. Turned out to be a very simple .htaccess error, but it took me 3 chats and 2 calls to get adequate assistance.
Performance scores were also unimpressive, compared to websites I had with other hosts.
All in all, GoDaddy is a great domain registrar, but not so good at hosting.
Since then the website experiencing some down and lag for couple of days and weeks. Been contacting with customer service also don't help with resolving the issues. Ended up using other web consultant to fix with the speed management.
To sums up my experience with this hosting, they only good with current brand name and do not live up to their name. Trust me you can find other good hosting brand out there.
The shared hosting is good to be dedicated for a blog or a simple website that has a limited amount of daily traffic.
They are however NOT the cheapest hosting company in the market, and their domains tend to lean towards the expensive side. It gives the impression that you are paying for the pleasure of doing business with them.
For a once-off, hosting a site with them is fine. However, if you are in the website business, you quickly start seeing through the charade. Their hosting support is not that great. They offer a restricted/watered down version of cPanel and it only serves to frustrate if you are a technical person that knows what he is doing.
To really make problems worse, the phone support staff are unknowledgable about common questions. In other cases the support staff gave me incorrect information, thus is required multiple calls to get a problem fully resolved. Each time it took over 30 minutes to actually get to a human to discuss the problem. I swore off GoDaddy due to the support staff.
My VPS server doesn't have the best of speeds in spite of all possible optimizations.
I have uptime monitoring on all my client sites and GoDaddy is down the most, by far. Speed is sub-par. Features are sub-par. They force you into the upsells, everything is an addon.
I love GoDaddy for domains and that's what I use. But, I would not host on GoDaddy again if it was free.
It is not worth the price in my opinion. The websites are slow, unexpectedly go down, and the backend is clunky.
They're expensive, slow, change their UI too frequently, and their support is sub-par.
They may be big, but they're not all they advertise to be.
If you want to call them for help you have to wait normally 1-2 hours for them to connect. One more tricky thing is they do not offer free SSL and to install them you might need to hire a developer.
The pricing is extremely high and will change on every upgrade or renewal. The speed is reasonable though but their server response time is slow.
Not recommended.
Its loading times are not spectacular. The support is slow and it seems they have too many people to help.
Until today I haven´t had any issues with reliability to be fair.
The platform is complex even for experienced users. Making any changes in your plan, DNS, SSL, or whatever you need is so difficult and takes forever to propagate when is done. Even login into your account is tricky.
I perceive that the only intention for this provider is to sell you more and more stuff, and they charge a lot for every little product or service.
Finally, never let a domain expire on GoDaddy because they start selling it as premium after its 15days of extension.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend them. There are more reliable and VFM web hosting services out there.
Their prices could be better, especially on renewal. I got impression too, that they just want to sell us something that we don't need and we will had to renew it at high prices.
They could offer more reliable services with much better support for the price they charge. I would recommend you to avoid this web hosting. There are much better web hosting service around.
We highly recommend not to purchase the cheapest hosting package. Usually, they come with a row of issues: the server is often down, the hardware is outdated, lousy and slow support, registration and payment errors, etc.
For your convenience, we have created a tool that can help you to choose the right hosting package for you just by answering a few simple questions.
CMS is a content management system. A lot of hosting providers offer so-called CMS optimized packages. However, this is a marketing trick because most CMSs do not have special software or hosting requirements.
Trial period is a period of time, usually from 7 to 30 days, during which you can use the hosting services for free to test them.
Moneyback policy allows the customer to receive a refund for his order within a certain period after the purchase.
OS means the operating system is installed on the server. We recommend to choose Linux hosting unless your website requires another OS.
Bulletproof hosting - it’s a type of service that allows to host almost any type of content, even the restricted one (adult content, warez, spam etc). Bulletproof hosting providers do not remove your content in case someone reports an abuse.
