First impression
Bluehost was founded way back in 2003 by Matt Heaton and Danny Ashworth in Provo, Utah, and has since cemented itself as a major player when it comes to Shared Hosting and WordPress Hosting. They embrace solutions for open-source implementation and development and are even endorsed by WordPress as a recommended hosting provider, a feat rarely seen. This market leader, consisting of more than 750 dedicated and skilled administrators, engineers, and technicians, powers more than 2 million websites across the globe and is one of the most loved and trusted Hosting solution providers around. Besides the aforementioned services, they also offer VPS Hosting, Dedicated Server Hosting & Reseller Hosting.
Their best-in-class, hassle-free solutions are reasonably priced and designed to meet the needs of a wide range of customers, from newbies right through to seasoned pros. They also make onboarding a breeze, all packages come standard with tools that are simple and easy to use, and their setup wizard will guide you through the setup process to help you launch your site in no time!
A Brief Video Introduction from Bluehost Company
Trial Period
There is no free trial on offer to test drive their services, but rather a 30-day money-back guarantee, which is standard practice these days for any quality hosting company worth their salt.
Billing Cycle
With Bluehost, you will have the option to sign-up on either a month-to-month basis or pay annually, this applies to all their packages. One should note that you will be required to take the annual option when first joining, and only when your plan comes up for renewal will you have the option of paying monthly. Personally the annual options make much more sense as these are incentivized by huge discounts. Bluehost accepts all major credit cards or PayPal as payment methods.
Control Panel
Users can manage their files through the ever-popular and easy-to-use cPanel.
Limits
Bluehost offers four plans on their Shared Hosting, namely Basic, Plus, Choice Plus, and Pro, with the biggest difference being the allocated disc space. The Basic Package starts with a mere 10GB SSD Storage (very little compared to most competitors), the Plus Package comes with 20GB, Choice Plus 40GB, and lastly, 100GB for the Pro Package. All come standard with a Free SSL certificate, Free Domain, and Free Content Delivery Network (CDN). On the higher-end packages, you will also have a few value-added services like Domain Privacy and Performance Insights.
One should note that the SSL on the Basic Package is only free for the first year.
Their VPS Hosting offers three choices, starting with 30GB SSD space, 2 GB RAM on the Standard Package, 60GB space and 4GB RAM on the Enhanced, and 120GB space with 8GB RAM on the Ultimate Package. The first two will also have 2 Core CPUs while the Ultimate Package has 4.
Security
Their all-in-one solutions make website protection and reliability easy with a free SSL through Let’s Encrypt that is automatically assigned to all domains, free basic malware detection, and automated security updates.
Should you need more protection, Bluehost also has a paid service called SiteLock. It is their product and comes with varying levels of protection.
The essential plan is charged at $7.99 per month and will only scan website files. The Prevent plan scans all files, as well as the database, and this will set you back $19.99 per month. Lastly, they have the PreventPlus plan for $29.99 per month which includes all of the above, and also provides an Advanced Security Firewall.
OS
Bluehost only offers Linux-based Hosting.
Support
Around-the-clock help is available via phone, email, or live chat.
Bluehost is famous for its "excellent support". I put them to the test and sadly was rather disappointed. I would rate them as average at best. Their online chat representatives disappear at times, leaving you to ponder if you are still connected, and although I eventually got the technical answers I was after, this was still a far cry from superior support.
Is Bluehost suitable for my company?
Who might benefit from Bluehost?
WordPress users: Bluehost is actually officially recommended by WordPress.org, and they offer several attractive features for WordPress users, including one-click installs and automatic updates.
Beginners: Bluehost is known for its user-friendly interface and excellent customer service, including 24/7 support. This can make it a great choice for those who are new to web hosting.
Small to medium-sized businesses: Bluehost's shared hosting plans are competitively priced and offer a good range of features, making them suitable for smaller businesses. They also offer more advanced options, such as VPS and dedicated hosting, for when your business grows.
Who might not benefit from Bluehost?
Budget-conscious users: While Bluehost offers a good value for the price, there are cheaper hosting options available. Those with a very tight budget might prefer to look elsewhere.
High-traffic sites: While Bluehost's shared hosting is excellent for smaller sites, it might not be sufficient for sites with very high traffic or resource-intensive applications. In these cases, a cloud hosting or dedicated server might be a better choice, though Bluehost does offer these options as well.
Users needing advanced features: While Bluehost is great for beginners and intermediate users, some advanced users might find it lacks certain features they need. For instance, it doesn't offer hosting based on the Windows operating system and might lack certain developer-friendly tools.

Bluehost offers feature-packed, dependable Hosting that is perfect for anyone starting out. They noticeably lack Windows Hosting options, and the support might feel average at times, but overall still a great hosting choice, especially for users that are budget conscious.

I was also sorry for my client, who could not get any help from the support agents regarding her mail issues, so even after ending my freelance contract, I've contacted her on daily basis for the whole two weeks, explaining how to check mail connection with telnet, what DNS propagation is and how to set up spam filters.
- Their prices for their packages are quite reasonable.
- Their support reps are superb so far and they would walk you through the process in case you do not know. They really know how to give the best customer experience.
- Their WordPress packages are the best among the other hosting companies I've gone through so far.
Cons:
- They do not the website migration themselves for free. The fee is $150. If you don't want to pay that much and can't afford to be thought as you don't have time, you may go to freelancers instead and they could transfer your website with a cheaper fee.
Like other hosting services, they need some improvements as well. I see few hosting package, they do not offer dedicated server or reseller package. Also, I do not see cloud hosting on their offer.
But all in all, the best catch is the price, all, you'll get to have free SSL.
They also offer their own dashboard or cPanel for the users to use. They have a 30 day money back guarantee and a 1 click install software option.
The biggest downside is that the website migration to their servers is pretty expensive. So if you are creating a new website and not transferring one, this is a great choice for a hosting provider.
But it comes cheap, service is good, they have fast and reliable servers, good dashboard and UI and overall experience is stellar. They do resell Cloudflare CDN and that might be main reason why experience is good.
And yet, I still prefer SiteGround over BlueHost, although BlueHost has a cheaper starting price (2.75$ / month, versus SiteGround's 3.95 $ / month) and somewhat faster server response time.
Reason? that one-click install for WordPress wil also install a lot of unnecessary stuff that you (probably) don't need. I usually do a manual install of WordPress and its database, but I wanted to try that one-click install. I regretted that decision, spent some time deleting it and re-installed it manually, as usual.
You definitely won't go wrong with BlueHost. In fact, judging by many online reviews, you'll be better off with BlueHost than with SiteGround if you're looking for a simple and solid web hosting solution, especially for static websites. Nevertheless, I still use SiteGround, although it's due time to give BlueHost one more shot.
P.S. I never had the need to contact support on BlueHost, which is arguably a very good thing, so I can't give my opinion on the quality of their support.
Cons: Attractive prices but later it gets double with renewal - so you better calculate.
Whenever I work with any of my customer I ask them their expereince on the services they are using. Bluehost is one of the best hosting provider where my 90% customer were happy.
Pros:
#The initial cost is affortable
# You will get good support with them
# Cons:
~ Renewal charges are pretty high compared to other
Bluehost takes the safety of its customers seriously too. I really liked the domain privacy feature common to all their plans. That means your personal information won't be accessible to hackers who may use it for phishing schemes and the likes.
I have contacted live chat support agents from time to time and even though I experienced a slight delay between chats, most of their agents are super friendly and can answer technical questions without having to look up for an answer first.
The only thing I didn't like about Bluehost was that they charged me to migrate my site. Most hosting providers do it for free, right? be prepared to shell out a whopping $149.99 for a single migration. But if you compare this to their money back guarantee, robust security support and tons of user-friendly apps, you may want to change your mind when it comes to migrating. Overall, a great hosting experience and I recommend it!
+ Really cheap Wordpress hosting with FREE SSL which is a big plus if you use e-commerce!
+ Support is fast responding and really kind!
Unfortunately my company doesn't use them anymore, but we were so satisfied with Bluehost!
Highly recommended!
As pros i could say are: its cheap, free domain for 1 year, free SSL, unlimited storage, perfomances cashing,
As cons - the support is not good as it should be, they dont offer free migration, no free backups.
I can recommend it to Blogger and WordPress beginners
The Account Options are somewhat confusing on some of the plans but for the most part easy to access and make simple changes.
On the Plus products, you do get cPanel which includes Softaculous apps installer and allows you to make changes to PHP which a lot of other hosting providers lock you out of.
Support is normally somewhat helpful but it does take a while to get anything done if you use chat or tickets. If you have an emergency issue, it's best to call them.
if your looking for a start up kit this is it
The backend is pretty good and makes managing the sites easy. But some of the add-on services, like the backups can be difficult to use. Any time I have reached out to support they are helpful, but you might end up waiting awhile for the chat. Overall I recommend this host because of the good value and easy to use backend. But your site will need some optimizing to get good speed.
For me, I found it a really fast, super cost-effective, and reliable company whom I can trust for my business.
Highly recommended!
You get low cost hosting, which is reliable and stable. I was also really surprised by the quality of the support considering their price point!
Most of their hosting plans offer unlimited websites which is great for someone looking to test out a few different business ideas whilst keeping your costs down as much as possible.
However, their speed can be an issue at times. Sometimes it's OK, others it's very slow. They must have many clients under the same server.
Overall, I would recommend Bluehost for a budget-friendly web hosting but if you want a well optimized website with lightning loading speeds, maybe you should look somewhere else.
I have been recommending this to all my clients so they can enjoy best speed optimization for their website.
The support isn’t very impressive because the resolution couldn’t come as quickly as I expected whenever I had an issue. Also, the support team tells you to do this and that and does not resolve your issue themselves.
I moved to Namecheap because it was cheaper than Bluehost, and I do not regret it. Namecheap support is also a lot better than Bluehost.
We highly recommend not to purchase the cheapest hosting package. Usually, they come with a row of issues: the server is often down, the hardware is outdated, lousy and slow support, registration and payment errors, etc.
For your convenience, we have created a tool that can help you to choose the right hosting package for you just by answering a few simple questions.
CMS is a content management system. A lot of hosting providers offer so-called CMS optimized packages. However, this is a marketing trick because most CMSs do not have special software or hosting requirements.
Trial period is a period of time, usually from 7 to 30 days, during which you can use the hosting services for free to test them.
Moneyback policy allows the customer to receive a refund for his order within a certain period after the purchase.
OS means the operating system is installed on the server. We recommend to choose Linux hosting unless your website requires another OS.
Bulletproof hosting - it’s a type of service that allows to host almost any type of content, even the restricted one (adult content, warez, spam etc). Bulletproof hosting providers do not remove your content in case someone reports an abuse.
Unlimited hosting - refers to companies that provide packages with unlimited disk space, bandwidth, number of domains, databases or email accounts, etc. This is usually a marketing trick but sometimes you can find something worth a try.
Secure hosting - it’s a type of service when the hosting provider is mostly responsible for the security of the user’s account: updates the software installed on their servers, provides an antivirus and malware scanner, firewalls and basic anti-DDoS protection, etc.
DDoS-protected hosting - companies that provide packages that include anti-DDoS protection. These packages are considerably more expensive than regular ones. Nevertheless, they’re totally worth their price because the company will ensure that your website is secured from cyber attacks.
Most websites require MySQL and PHP installed on the server to work correctly. Almost all hosting providers support these technologies.
ASP.NET is a Microsoft web application development platform.
The more comfortable the control panel is, the easier will it be for you to change the website and hosting account settings.
Most hosting providers that are in TOP20 in our rating offer user-friendly control panels, such as cPanel, Plesk or DirectAdmin. That’s why we recommend to pay attention to other, more important parameters, while choosing a hosting provider.
